Homer
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6389015.stm Just got off the phone from NTL and my favourite channel is now likely to disapear from March 1st Sky News and some of the sport channels will go too. Just checked into Sky prices, they're a little more expensive but worth it for the Sky+. Bet they can't get it installed march 1st though. DaveK
I used to have NTL. The cable box itself was crap - always breaking and I finally got sick of it and moved to Sky, then Sky+. Having done so, I honestly can't understand why I stuck with NTL so long.
Kopite
When I had NTL, about 1/4 of the channels actually worked!

Branners
so its defo going to happen then? thats suicide for NTL, if they do it then Im moving to sky straight away. Outside of Sky One and Sky Two I only ever watch discovery and the kids channels. So thats me moving then. JB
markjodrell
NTL sucks, the only reason I stay with them is because I have the phone/tv/b/band package with them. The b/band is okay but the TV really sucks, slow changing between channels and constanly freezing up. Used to have SKY, zillion times better IMO

I used to have the whole deal as well, but these days I have Sky and broadband with BT - still have the phone with NTL though, since I've never had a reason to change. I can't comment on the broadband cost since I don't pay for mine anymore but when I switched to Sky I didn't think it worked out much more expensive. It's what I said to them today. The lady on the phone said they've been inundated with people asking about cancellation terms. The call wait time was nearly 20mins when you can normally get through in a minute or tow. It's caused by Sky though - they've bumped the price to try and force Virgin to decline, which will obviously cost them 100k's of customers. colsoop
It sounds more like a stunt by Sky to get more money out of NTL / Virgin

NTL should publically announce that then and get all the customers to email, call and write to Sky to tell them how unacceptable it is. I dont want to move away from NTL, it works well for me (except all the cable box resets). My wife did ask me what I would actually lose if I lost Sky One, and to be honest its only Battlestar and Lost that I would miss. JB
JamesG
I'll be phoning them next week (if i can get through!) and will expect a very large cut in my subscription. I read last week on av forums that the retentions department are desparate to keep customers. Not a good start to the Virgin branding! Todd
Yes, you should all cancel Virgin and join Sky If you haven't got Sky already then drop me a pm with your email address and your real name, can get you set up with either a free sky+ box or half price HD box as long as you take out a years subscription. PS, I work for sky and this is an offer all staff get for friends and family PPS, don't ask me for anything else, it's the only deal we get. Not a good start to the Virgin branding! time to push for a free V+ box, 10mb internet and top subscription then....every cloud has a silver lining. Having had time to think about it Im not sure I want to swap to sky if they are trying to close down the market. They only bought in to ITV to stop Virgin being able to compete. ivan
Whew - I so nearly switched to Virgin TV just the other day as SWMBO thought it might be cheaper. I didn't want to, but who can argue with a womans purse? Luckily, when I compared full package costs NTL/Virgin worked out just a bit more (even with all the discounts) so we didn't make the call. I said "well, that was lucky" and had a quiet chuckle to myself at this evenings news.
Ian R
Might as well just get the real deal any way Sky is the way to go
Bobbeh
I agree with Branners. Sky are aggressive in terms of their approach to business but I can understand why. I'm sure they can get many of these shows on Sky One Broadcast via other means. Did you too get the email today from Mr Branson?
MONKEYmark
im happy with my digital ntl and broadband and phone.would miss sky news and sky one but there plenty more to watch.i just mainly have it on in background. sky doing there bully boy tactics.could be a good thing knowing richard branson and how he loves been the underdog. cashpoint
Thinking about it I don't watch sky one that much, all the shows they have that are worth watching you can see another way. The only time it is on is if i can't find anything else i want to watch.
RedM
Can't see the point in Sky TBH. Apart from absolutely despising the Murdoch scummers with every fibre of my being I can't see much point to it. You can download new series from US torrents before they even reach these shores or buy DVD boxsets. Plus, with a boxset, you don't get ad breaks or all that logo shite on the screen and you watch them when you want to. I wouldn't be surprised if Sky put up their subscriber rates midway though a season of AN Other popular US series. You're fools to yourselves. Pabs
Wow - anyone seen the Sky advert about this on tv? I've just this second seen it on sky one - they basically say that virgin customers may lose the channels soon, even though they've put their prices up. Then then say either call Virgin NOW, or switch to sky!!!!! Aggressive move, sky Shame I'm a Virgin "customer".....
