Sheefa
Not had any deal in this directly, but a mate of mine who works in Liability U/W has just mentioned that we've won part of a case for an F1 team. However the exciting news is that they are apparently developing a new Carbon brake system which re-feeds the generated heat back into the engine and propells the car forward at a more rapid pace from a standing start. It's got some form of converter which turns the heat energy into concentrated thrust. Buses already have a similar technology in place, but has this ever been seen on an F1 car? For security reasons I can't name the Team, but it seems like an innovative step forward. Greg
Sheefa
LOL looks like it might scare a few bus drivers too!!! http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/breaking-news/ireland/article2265956.ece

michael
This is old news, regenerative brakes have been around for a long time and the FIA have been banging on about it for a while, this is one example of an old article that attempts to look into the future: http://www.fia.com/automotive/issue5/sport/article10.html It seems to be part of the regulations for 2009
merckx
It's about time that they got this technology running in road cars.
Sheefa
Ah didn't know this Michael. Seems very interesting though, but clearly no F1 cars have it fitted at the mo? Fantastic technology. Especially if it also helps dissipitate the heat away from the brakes whilst simultaneously providing oooompth! Alex
It's about time that they got this technology running in road cars. It was banned from racing. Now they want F1 to start producing Green Tech and so have changed the rules from next year or 2009 on. You'll soon see different methods for producing power, bioethanol, fuelcells etc..
