suprattgaz
I have recently got a new job which means the supe is now only a weekend toy whre as I used to commute in it every day. Guess it will only do 2K miles this up coming year. Locked up in garage for 99.9% of it's time now. Sky don't really do a great deal on the fact that it is immobilised, alarmed, garaged, pad-locked in a garage and has another car infront of the garage - it ain't going anywhere?! I am with Sky at the minute with an agreed value of 10K on the car and 8 yrs NCD. Anyone know if there is a better deal out there as far as insurance goes? I am 26 and the renewal due next month is £700?! Limited mileage I guess is the main factor in this now.

Havard
Try AON. I have a 5k max miles and a 5K agreed value with them on my NA. If you are over 30 you'll be laughing. I pay £389.00. Would have been £460.00 for a TT Let me know if you want me to find the number!! H. EDIT - Didn't see you were 26 Sorry!!
Sheefa
Classic Car policies are the way forward mate, from an insurance man! They're generally cheaper, provide more comprehensive cover, especially in respect of Agreed Values, and there are less 'exemptions' which I'm not going to go into detail about. Generally, Classic Car insurance allows you to do between 1,500 miles up to a maximum around 6,000 per annum and of course the less miles you do, the cheaper cover gets. So as long as you feel you'll be doing below 6k, then get a CC policy mate.

Havard
ok, so who does classic car insurance? Why are we sponsored by sky if they aren't the best for us? Try A plan!! They were my second choice but AON massacred their price tbh!! H.
Sheefa
Sky are a Broker, not insurer. We are associated with them because generally they do give good deals for the majority, they actually have experience and 'expertise' in the Modified and Import market, and they offer the Agreed Value option which is a USP over most composite insurers/brokers. Todd
ok, so who does classic car insurance? Why are we sponsored by sky if they aren't the best for us? Speak for yourself, over the moon with the service from Sky.
suprattgaz
Speak for yourself, over the moon with the service from Sky. I never said they weren't any good - they have been fabulous to me for the past year. Just if I go from using the car daily to having it locked in a garage and going very little mileage the new factor could mean cheaper insurance with a different broker- which looks like it could be the case. Sheefa
Well Todd, we all know Sky can't be the best for 'everyone' just like any other insurer. But they are bloody good and win my vote easily. Just depends, insurance has so many variables.
suprattgaz
OK so shopped around, got some quotes in the low 500's off several people. Phoned back Sky to say I would like to stay with them but have had lower offers, and they matched the lowest quote, still with agreed value etc! So saved quite a bit there just by shopping and being a bit cheeky! Not a bad way of saving £150 is it? I would have paid nearly 700 for EXACTLY the same service and piece of paper [OOPS][/OOPS] /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_shock.gif !!

Angarak
Lancaster Insurance offer a classic car policy on Supras that are 10+yrs old. When it came to renewal (last November), I spoke to Sky (think it may have been Scott that I got through to) who said that they hope to offer a classic car policy in the near future as they couldnt compete with the quote I had from Lancaster or other insurance brokers/companies who offer classic car policies. The difference between my classic policy @ Lancaster and the best deal Sky could offer for the same kind of policy (agreed value, like for like on mods, etc) was around £500. suprattgaz
Best classic one I got today was with no mods was £440; with mods was £540, and that is what Sky equalled.
