How much is an XBox360 worth?

It's an XBox with I think a 20GB HDD, wireless controller and an HD lead included, offered to me for £160.

Other question was what kids games are available for it because the missus doesn't like the 'adult' games like Gears of War, we were thinking of getting a Wii instead, but worried about it just being a novelty.

Ermm edited your post by accident

i meant to put

Wii is great for you and friends to play. By yourself its a bit boring. Its not a gamers machine but more of a party and laugh game.

For instance me and mates at weekend decide we fancied a pizza and some bowling. So thats what we did, cleared the lounge and done some bowling and got a pizza in from pizza hut :D

Do you happen to know how old the console is or when it was purchased?

If it's not in warranty or it's close to expiring then I'd be inclined to pick up a brand new one for about £100 more rather than taking a chance on something that may turn up its toes.

Bear in mind as well that the revised 360 is due for release in the next 3 or 4 months (I think) which will include a larger HD, revisions to the internal architecture to make it run cooler and possibly a few other bits and pieces as well.

I also think that Xbox sales might be hit slightly by PS3. I've been tempted to get an Xbox since before Christmas, but the new ones were more than I was willing to pay (I know I will hardly ever use it - that's why I got rid of my PS2 a year ago) and used ones were just as expensive (because they come with games I don't necessarily want).

However - we're now near enough to PS3 date that I am not tempted by xbox. I thought the PS2 was good - so unless the PS3 turns out to be crap I'd buy that and not an xbox.

Edited the first post back! :D

Not sure on age, don't think there's any warranty though. Looked around and can't see any at the same or better price at the moment, just wondered if it's enough of a drop to bother or just get a Wii instead.

Main reason for getting the 360 would be if my mate gets broadband and we can play together, my PS2 hardly gets used TBH as we don't have time unless it's 'planned'.

Wii has online capabilities but also the good part is being able to play gamecube / N64 / Snes/ megadrive games already on it and you just download them on to memory card. Look forward to some Mario 64.

The games are good fun and definatly more family / recreational gamer orientated rather then hardcore gamer.

You will enjoy it but most fun when playing with others. Although Zelda is a great game.

If it's out of warranty then I'd go with a brand new one and then if possible wait until the revised version is released. However, there's normally a few Premium package deals out there at the £280 mark that come with a couple of recent games.

If you want to go online to play games, then, at present, the 360 is the only choice.
