Kranz
Tax disc check my arse. It'll be an ANPR operation (automatic number plate reader) and I would suspect that the majority of the officers engaged there would be probationers (trainees). The point being? Well the ANPR will be directly linked upto the PNC so any vehicle that is of "interest" to Police will get tugged. Probationers then get experience of stopping and speaking with members of the public, can gain experience of developing their investigative skills by asking questions, and might get the chance of a decent arrest. After all, criminals need to travel about don't they? And generally they do that by car. Why so many then? Well, if an arrest is made then usually that'll be two less officers there to deal. (Labour intensive you see, lots of "i"'s to dot and "t"'s to cross and if there was say only 6 officers there then you may as well wind it up after an hour because they'll all the off with arrests. ) Often there is a bigger picture, but most of the time you only see what you choose to see eh? Hope that kind of explains it a bit for you. Well said Doug I too never tire of justifying my existance.... and sometimes it can even take me an entire shift of justifying myself to ignorant members of the public rather than actually doing any useful work that could benefit the community and bring offenders to justice Believe me, the police are not just out to harass innocent drivers.... Why, I even let one person off a 55 in a 30 the other morning and gave another a ticket for 65 in a 30 instead of summoning them to court and them losing their licence! Kranz
I only see that no one comes out when you burgled but there are traffic type police everywhere :eyebrows: Not exactly true. Every burglary has to be attended within the hour (in Sussex at least) no matter if it is a week old or whatever, and after an hour it turns into a grade 1 priority (blue light response) if it wasn't in the first place. Also traffic are so thin on the ground there are normally only 3 cars to cover the whole of West Sussex (but don't tell anyone!!).

I was burgled doors crowbarred of hinges, disturbed em when I came home no police willing to attend got a crime number. Later that evening my missus heard someone poking about again (and was alone) and called Police again still unwilling to attend. I live in Kent. My mate lives in Sussex and his missus was home alone and was watching a guy trying to break in to their house guess what Police would not attend they were too busy... But I'm sure the speed cameras were fully manned...
Dragonball
Did they actually stop you Paul ? I was proceeding in an Easterly direction your 'onour... whereupon I noticed several members of the constabulary looking at me from afar... Furtunately I was not weaving on my pushbike... (New fitness regime you see) Thanks for the input guys... I am sure you get as frustrated as the next... Just about to go off duty eh... ? Only three in West Sussex but they still have new signs for the A23 "Unmarked police cars operating". That will be for the Audi and Evo's that have been spotted running up and down the road (not sure how often) well before the signs were put up. Yes its easy to take the piss but when you want some help from the authorities it can seem to be an uphill struggle, but they will happily spend what seems a disproportionate amount of money on catching motorists and not doing training days for burglaries etc.
