until we know the date and how much it actually costs to hire the place I dont think we can say for certain what it costs to compete or to spectate.

So if we can all wait for Daman to sort out the costs etc and then we can see how much. I would expect spectators to be allowed and for it not to cost a massive amount.

Right guys, we have a date. There are two dates left at at the weekend. the 14th and 21st of April.

This is not far off because of this i have chosen saurday April 21st.

Gates open at 8am til about realisticly 4pm giving us a good 8 hours of unlimited fun.

The Cost of the event is £2995. 50 cars will see a cost of £60 as originally expected. I have negotiated a deal that allows us entry for upto 100 cars for the same price. For those that we not a fan of math at school, 100 cars means we get in for £30. Great eh? :)

Now there is a hidden cost should we go ahead with it, the spraying of the track. This comes in at £800. If we can get 100 cars then the cost including the spraying would be £38. Obviosly, this is going to be put to a club vote.

The only other hidden cost is security. We need to devise a way of keeping the riff raff out! I am all for getting one guard on the gate for the day.

Spectating costs are going to have to be worked out between myself and other moderators, this will obviosly bring the run costs down slightly.

One thing i will stress thou, if the marchal deem it unfit to run due to the weather (wet track) then runs are called off until it becomes safe to do so. If the track is unsafe all day then we will loose all the money paid.

I am going to put up a seperate thread in the next few days highlighting these points and a poll to see if spraying of the track is wanted and to get a list of definate numbers, once we get definate numbers we will have a definate price.

Your time on track will depend on how many people come. I will create groups (pobably about 10-14 cars big) and allocate run times to each group so that everyone has an equil amount of time on the strip and knows when they should be on.

Why do we need allocated time slots?

Presumably there will be some people who want to run all day, and others who will just want to do a few. If the weather is good, and we suffer no breakages (touch wood) then time slots shouldn't really be required - people would simply need to queue up as and when they wanted to run. The most cars you're going to have in front of you is 49, meaning a maximum waiting time of about 20 minutes between runs if everyone wants to run all the time. Their current system seems to work pretty well on RWYB days with no allocated time slots with alot more than 100 cars.

You're also removing any fun little grudge matches that could arise throughout the day from someone running significantly quicker than they thought they would.

Personally I don't like the idea of thrashing the hell out of mine serveral times in a short space of time to fit in a time slot either...

I'm still in, and agree we should just queue rather than doing time slots :)

I vote we have the track sprayed / prepped too - what's the point in a drag day if we're not serious about seeing our best times possible?

Cheers,

Brian.

maybe Im wrong but I absolutely hate queueing for RWYB. You can sit there edging forward for up to an hour while they get the cars through and it means you cant walk away from your car as its in the queue. So you spend most of the day in a queue not talking to anybody and not seeing anything at all.

The goal here is to give people lots of consecutive runs (tyres stay hot and you can practice starts better) and then they get some time to look round the other cars and have a good chat while the other time slots go past.

If people want the time slot solution put to the vote then thats cool, I feel its a good opportunity to make sure people get lots of runs in quick sucession. Perhaps we run a free for all after 2pm for the grudge matches.

So do we need to put this to a vote as well?

I'm loving this thread. Definately need the track glued and preped IMO. Lets be serious about it shall we.

:yeahthat:

Costs are more than fair. You'd pay £20 + £15 for 3 runs on a event day so £38 for a Supra only day + security costs is well worth it.

Date is good also :)

I'm not saying it's wrong but this isn't a normal rwyb day so personally I don't see it being a problem just queueing. a 20 minute wait with a good flow of cars should still see enough time to do over 20 runs in the day - a vote might be a good idea though :)

What about a free for all for the first few hours. Then a mini comp for the top ten times.

This could be followed by 1 hour of peoples grudge matches and finish on free for all

thats not a bad idea at all - i like it!
