bodilx6
But why is it letting unburnt fuel in the exhaust? I mean, I dont see this happening in any of the Puntos or Mondeos i come by..
Graham S
But why is it letting unburnt fuel in the exhaust? I mean, I dont see this happening in any of the Puntos or Mondeos i come by.. mainly will only happen on decatted cars as they are less restricted and you'll find its running much richer than a catted car.. bodilx6
Mines decat and all. Does it happen at throttle lift or? I havent noticed any flashes behind me at night. I'm guessing it'll be something you notice in the rw mirror at night time, right?
Pig
Unlikely to happen at BPU. I suppose maybe if your thrashing the balls off it. I had reported that mine was flaming in a race once... car wasnt very well though. At Single its much easier to get flames!
SupraJames
Have often toyed with the idea of a kit, but like most dont really want a hole in my nice NUR Spec. Was hoping for flames without a kit after decat, and have been told that im overfueling anyway, but still nothing. Can flames be got from a BPU UK Auto..? Or is a single needed.? edge
Aint that due to it being an absolute monster and not a dodgy flamer kit?

Wez
Aint that due to it being an absolute monster and not a dodgy flamer kit? Correct, most tuned motors produce flames on lift off etc due to unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust.

So is that the popping noises i can hear on mine when slowing from a quick blast?
Wez
In most cases yeah, cool isnt it. Before I had mine fully mapped it was pretty rich and use to make alot more pops and bangs than it does now.
Paul Whiffin
Aint that due to it being an absolute monster and not a dodgy flamer kit? That is correct and I would never drill into my lovely titanium exhaust
Paul Whiffin
So is that the popping noises i can hear on mine when slowing from a quick blast? Nah, Supra's dont flame much at all. Not until you run a stand alone ECU and mess with the settings a bit.

carl0s
Paul your car does look awesome Referring to the cheapo flamer kits now: Isn't there a chance that running unburnt fuel through the turbo could cause turbo damage, kind of like anti-lag - i.e. it'll sound awesome, and spool the turbo, but not do it any good, if the fuel happens to get ignited by the hot turbocharger? Any other negative impacts from cutting spark and just pumping fuel in/out of the cylinders through the valves? Bore wash? That site mentions that having catalytic convertors in place "will decrease the effectiveness of the flames". It doesn't mention that running neat petrol through the cat might (will?) damage it and cause major heat buildup.
Guest Phillw454
them flames look well cool:d
mikeyb10supra
Looks and sounds cool but when it starts melting your paint you have problems there was a guy at pod a few months back with one and his bumper looked a right mess Get yourself an anti lag device or as others have said a properly sorted single car with enough power to deliver a flame on over-run
dibbleyuk
My Impreza flames heehee what ya think!? there is a video here sound is sh*t done on my phone
Gerry
My Westfield used to "flame" sometimes (and pop / bang) I thought it was really cool until it "flamed" at the other (engine) end one day. After about 30 seconds the whole engine bay was on fire and it finished up with a new bonnet, nose, carbs, battery, wiring etc etc. I'm a bit more nervous now... The worst bit was stood with a water hose (which was at hand) knowing that if I took the bonnet off it would go up really quick, but not be able to get enough water into the engine bay with the bonnet on !
