Disturbing: Meet your meat

If you don't like seeing defenceless animals being abused, stay well clear of this link.

I hope it's extreme cases and a fair dolop of propaganda, but it's still a horrifying indication of what animals have to endure.

After viewing this I won't be going vegetarian, I like meat too much. I will buying free range where possible though so hopefully the animals have had a better life than this.

To raise awareness of things that you would normally bury your head about.

but in my opinion it does'nt, it just upsets people that care to view it and in reality, people know what goes on or have a pretty good idea already, cruelty to animals has been happening for years and watching what you just posted does'nt change anything

You don't think out of the thousands of people viewing that site some might make a more concious choice of the food they choose? It's MEANT to be upsetting (a little too OTT in the voice over IMHO) - hence the warning. Shock tactics.

It was a waste of money for them to do all that promotion then wasn't it?

For you maybe.

That's absolutely appalling. It made me feel quite sick and so terribly sorry for those poor animals.

I agree with Pete, we DO need to see things like this, certainly not to get any enjoyment from, but to realise the unnecessary suffering that some of the animals are made to go through, to provide us with food.

No, I'm not going to become a vegetarian, but I will consider more carefully the sources that my food comes from after watching this.

shock tactics, you can tell by the cameras its undercover work where they are trying to catch the worse places.

As I remarked above. It's certainly worst case scenario and against our laws.

We have one of the largest abattoirs in the UK as a customer and it's still pretty damn disturbing what happens.

So people can know the reality of their purchase. Eating meat that has been drugged to get a bigger yeild is sure to have health side effects. The unecessary cruelty is remarkable to say the least.

No point in being an Ostrich.

so I take it everything you eat from now on you will consider the health effects and how the animal product your eating has been treated in its life cycle??

My point was that even though everything has been said and the video watched by some, I would say 99.9% of people wont change there eating habits and hence the video not really achieving anything but upsetting folk :(

Its not few and far between, much of what was shown in the video happens every day in abattoirs and farms in the UK (Though UK farms are far better than much of mainland Europe). There is a huge variation between farms though, there are many decent farmers out there that take good care of their animals, but there are just as many that treat animals appallingly.

The most common is the treatment of battery hens (where most of our eggs come from). If you ever get to visit one of those sheds I bet you'll never want to eat another battery egg again. Most of the chickens are bald and partially crippled, mainly due to being packed in so tight their feathers and skin rubs off. They still end up on our supermarket shelves!

I only ever eat free range foods (where I have the choice)!
