dangerous brain
That reminds me of the airbus test flights then I found this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-eRRWMr-Ds This one is OK but I have seen a better one where the landing gear is shown to steer into the runway direction with the aircraft going sideyways. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHrLB_mlir4 another view More sideways action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sldcahRFZKg
Ric
That was a airport in china i think, every aircraft had to land like that because of mountains in front of the runway (or behind it in that video) the airports closed now though

dangerous brain
That can't be real can it? Dam it looks like it just sank into the ground?? The airstrip is below the line of sight of the camera. Thats why you can't see the tarmac.

Nic
I use to fly into Kai Tak airport when I first came to HK, it always made for a very exciting landing. You'd fly following the line of the mountains, then hang a sharp right hand turn, skim VERY low over the buildings in Kowloon and then all you'd see outside the window was sea, as the runway was basically just a strip of land in HK harbour. A few planes didn't stop in time and went off the end of the runway into the harbour, which was always in your mind as the pilot started braking hard Here's another quality landing at Kai Tak http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdMZ6e6CVdA

I must have done nearly 50 landings at the old Kai Tak airport and remember dreading all of them
