Glosphil
I think far too much importance is attached to how fast a Supra can go. A faster car is not necessarily a better car - and most of the people buying jags are not going to want a TT Supra simply because it's faster. I can't comment on how good a Jag is - never owned one - but speed isn't everything. A TT Supra would leave my 911 for dead - but in my (personal) opinion, my 911 is a much better car. I've driven a 911 and own a boxster, but still prefer my supra. for its age its an amazing car, it must have been well ahead of its time when it came out. Personal preference I guess. Snooze
This worries me, I paid 9k for my freshly imported stock TT6 in black in November. Was told its rare and cheap at the price. Are you saying its only worth 5 ? First uk owner, 55k miles. Manual will be worth slightly more - my '93 TT6 70k miles is worth about £7.5k, IMO. DaveK
I've driven a 911 and own a boxster, but still prefer my supra. for its age its an amazing car, it must have been well ahead of its time when it came out. Personal preference I guess. It's funny you say that - because it's partly the age thing that surprises me. My supra is 10 years old (or will be this year) - the 911 is just over 17. But it brakes better and feels a lot more involving to drive. I was actually surprised myself. When I had the TT Supra 8 or 9 years ago I couldn't understand why people were paying a premium for things like 911s when my Supra was just as fast (if not faster). When I bought the NA - even though it obviously has less power - I expected it to make the 911 feel pretty ordinary. But the first time I took the 911 out for a long drive a week or two after buying the Supra I was surprised at how much better it felt. Like you say - personal preference (or I bought a crap Supra!). Snooze
The pointy steering is what really grabbed me about the 911 over the Supra. You feel totally connected to the road. The Supra is good, but the 911 is in a different class in this respect. Couldn't afford to buy or run a 911, tho' - and the Supra is more practical. The Supra rear seats are pretty poor, but the 911 bench is literally unusable.

This is strange that these 2 cars are being compared as they are the only 2 cars that I would spend my hard earned money on. At this moment I could not justify paying 30k for a decent 911. The Supe at 5K was 90% of the fun at 15% of the price.!! Bit of a no brainer really!! H.

Guigsy
i decided i will never own a car my dad has driven he had a mazda ( i was 2 young 2 remember what kind but he used it to tow the caravan and it wasnt powerfull enough. so had it turboed.. which would then overheat. Then he had a supra mkIII (a bit close to the line on this one) a auto non turbo. then a mitsubishi sigma (this was a damn nice car i have to say. so many fancy bits on like suspention u could change. full electric seats and everything. which back then was quite good then after keeping that for ages he got an S-type. and now he just got another s type. My uncle on the other had has had some great cars. vw corrado v6 thingy, P1 scooby, elise, and now a porche cayman. he has come nice cars (and yeah i know my spelling is horrable)
Lewis
I don't care how much mine is perceived to be worth. It's not for sale. We still talking cars or is this a more general statement?
jevansio
I love my XK8, makes such a change from the Supra (also makes the Supra feel special when you get back in it after being in the Jag for weeks),
DaveM
To be honest a lot of people use running down a car as there method of negotiating the price. I am not convinced that it works and probably just winds the person up who is selling. My sister in law was selling a ford focus last summer and some guy turned up, looked over it, spent 1/ 2 hour telling her how crap the car was then offered her £500 below her asking price. She turned around and said there was no way she was going to sell her car to a horrible person like him and turned around and walked away. You are right about the car dealers coming out with BS to bring the P\ex price down but when the guy offered me a price I genuinely believe that he had no idea what the car even was until I told him. More ignorance than BS.
JohnA
... "oh no one wants them, old car sh*t to drive" i just fu*king walked out. The c*nt. It's the expected behaviour for someone who wants to prepare the grounds for buying your car. If he says to you that it's golddust, then you'll never let go for less than £10K, will you? He wants a bargain.
