Jake
Is that the normal 6 speed getrag box that will be in mine then, or a diff one ?Yeah, V160 in the original MkIVs and v161 in the later ones. I've never seen one go for more than £600 though. Still, apparently it's a sellers market. TBH I thought £600 for a secondhand box was a lot but hey
Glosphil
Yeah, ho hum, are they freely available ? just thinking of spares really if they like rocking horse doo doo. As Im bound to bust mine at some stage lol
Jake
are they freely available ? No they're quite hard to find, hence the high prices people are asking for them. Now folks are getting into Auto>Manual conversions the demand has risen.
Jezz
Tbh, I think Jakes right. The actual box itself is only worth about £500-600. The only reason i charge £2200 for the whole shabang, is the convenience thing. Not having to hunt around for all the parts, and getting everything in one hit. But then again adding up all the bits i dont think £2200 is that pricey. But then again i would say that. Anyway, hi-jack over.

As Im bound to bust mine at some stage lol I seriously doubt you will bust a 6 speed box unless you are planning to put some serious power through it or you cannot shift properly. i-macca
They are around £6k +VAT new from a dealer. I'd say £800 for a low mileage box is cheap to be honest!
avernaz
Hi mates, Sorry, i think i'm on the wrong market place. In UK, you have the chance to have many 6speed TT for sale ! Here in Switzerland, we have a total of 200x LHD MKIV TT from 1993 to 1996 and more of half, maybe 150, is automatic. Some have been imported to other country or crashed.. A TT automatic with 100'000km are for sale at 40'000.- CHF ( = 17000£ !! for a automatic LHD). Maybe if you have a chance to find a 6 speed manual, they sold for +4000£, with more kilometer ! At Toyota Dealer, the gearbox is more of 8000.- CHF and 4700$ in USA. I think the price is cheap for a Swiss market, for minus i keep it if i break mine.. Thank to understand. Best regards, Alex (my english is poor , sorry )

Lebsteif
And for the people who have a W58 and want to cahnge to a V160, boostlogic is selling a adapterplate. Its not on their website. Just email them.
adi2009
you dont need an adaptor plate to change from w58 to v160. they both have the same bolt pattern on the bellhousing. U are probably reffering to the R154 transmission
