Ibrar Jabbar
This evening I managed to find some time to re-connect my boost guage, I then took the Sup out for a blast and noticed that I cannot boost beyond ~14 PSI, It seems as if the 2nd turbo is not boosting!! Does anybody know the symptoms? all help appreciated, cheers PS. fully de-catted, HKS drager, VFCC
Guest Ash
Was it working okay *before* the time you say you found to re-connect the gauge? Yours, J
Alex
UK Spec may not boost beyond 14psi with the cats out. My J spec only hits 14psi as well. I did have a old worn out Blitz BOV which was leaking pressure but that only added 2psi... Check that all of you pipe work is secure. I assume you checked the connections for your boost gauge
Paul Booth
I noticed that mine whistles quite loudly when, I think, number 1 starts to spool and continues until I can't hear it any more 'cos of wind/road noise. Is this normal, bearing in mind I'm going to be looking at why mine pulls like a train to 120 and then falls off to 125 max (no popping and stuttering of a limiter)? Branners
Ibrar, you fitted UK turbos and manifold didnt you? The UK spec has some sort of bypass pipe or a better wastegate or something which stops it overboosting so to get more boost you are going to need to turn up the boost controller if you have one. Ibrar Jabbar
I ended up fitting a J-spec manifold and turbos in the end, It seems as if the second turbo isn't boosting! at 4500 RPM. All pipes / hoses look OK. With the previous manifold and turbos I was boosting to 18 PSI. Could it be the actuators or the wastegate faulty on the replacement manifold? Any thing else I should check? I want to get it all sorted before I advertise it. Branners
hmm, you would be hard pushed to get 14psi out of the first turbo, sounds like it might just be running in true twin mode due to a VSV problem. Best get it to somebody who knows what they are looking for. JB
Ibrar Jabbar
Just to let You all know, I have sorted the boosting problem, it seems as if, I was loosing pressure through the bottom intercooler hose. Tightened up the clip with a 10mm socket, double checked all other pipes and clips. Took the car out for blast and hit 18 PSI in 3rd, so all is fine know :-)
