Rory
Thanks for the welcomes guys I really enjoyed my drive in it today so looking forward to owning it. It was much smoother and more refined than I expected, which is a good thing I like a bit of comfort lol. I should get it on wednesday , I will post lots of pics when I get it I promise I'm going to polish the body and give it the full business, shampoo seats and carpets the lot. I usually have my cars pretty immaculate so I will do my best. Look forward to asking you lots of newbie questions lol
Rory
Oh and does anyone want to buy a very nice 1991 BMW 525i sport?
DaveK
Just out of interest - how did you confirm it was definitely a 98?
Rory
I haven't as yet but I will do so before handing over the readies. The seller is a good friend of my friend... Ive been told its straight and hes trustworthy. Will double check of course.
DaveK
How many guages did it have on the dash? 3 or 5? Was the clock analogue or digital?
Havard
How many guages did it have on the dash? 3 or 5? Was the clock analogue or digital? Why Dave, should the facelift have an analogue clock?? This still sounds too good to be true but good on you Rory if it is a bargain. There are 97 auto's up for sale for over 6k. Looking back over the 4 months that I was looking there were a couple of genuine bargains that I still couldn't believe. Sometimes people don't know the true value of things or just don't want them anymore. H.
Rory
Clock was analogue. Not sure how many guages, it had a battery guage was well as some others. The seller mentioned to me it had more guages than the pre-face lift ones.
DaveK
Yep - facelift is analogue (although I think some people swap back to digital, which I've been tempted to do).
Rory
The seller paid 4500 for it back in August from a Nigerian Dr who needed to sell everything up to move back to his home country ... the seller basically just wanted his money back. He did a good deal as my friend is a good friend of his. Sounds a bit dodgy but it seems like a good one

I paid almost £2K more than that 4 months ago for a 97 (manual). Congratulations.

If the seller had posted in August and said that some Nigerian guy was selling an Auto 98 for £4,500 we all would have shouted SCAM! and told him to run a mile! As it was he - and you - got a bargain!
Havard
Yep - facelift is analogue (although I think some people swap back to digital, which I've been tempted to do). Thank Christ for that, you had me worried about mine then!! This does sound like a wonderfully good deal. Like I said, if all the paperwork matches up then what a steal. Even if anything does go wrong, you've saved sooooooooo much on the purchase price that it doesn't really matter. Just make sure and take somebody with you who knows these cars Rory. Good luck!! H. Jake
I think some people swap back to digital I've never heard of anyone doing that. I can't see how you could do it really, what with them being different sizes. Thank Christ for that, you had me worried about mine then!! What do you mean H? Has yours got a digital clock then?
carl0s
Nor me. I didn't realise they were different sizes though. Will my boost gauge not fit in there then Jake? I have a 52mm gauge.
Jake
No, the facelift clock aperture is 60mm IIRC
