SupraAyf
I have just received the March issue of JP Mag and it contains a superb article on the recently evolved Thor Supra (an NA in its original form), with a Lexus V8 engine planted in it. Peter Betts (Thor's founder), leads on the article and I have to say that he has done a real good job of modding this Supe. It will cost you and I about £4 - £4.5K 'all in' for Thor to do the work and this will produce an increase of 90BHP over stock NA figures. A very worthy addition to the Supe family IMO - well done Peter and the Thor gang;)
Daston
4 - 4.5k?? that sounds bloody good price!!
SupraAyf
4 - 4.5k?? that sounds bloody good price!! It is mucka The article says £3K but you have to provide the engine (approx £800) and it will take hem a week! Oh yes........... Daston
Is that twin turbo'd as well?
SupraAyf
Is that twin turbo'd as well? No mate, the Supe was an 'NA' and they have fitted the 1UZ-FE 4.0 V8 lump that you would normally find in the Lexus SC and LS (according to the article) This whole set-up is really destined for the current NA owners
garetheves
Im confused then, whats all the talk of 1.2 bar??
SupraAyf
Im confused then, whats all the talk of 1.2 bar?? Right boys, I have fucked up. The 1.2bar bit was when he was talking about his previous car (GZ) where he ran 1.2 bar. I'll ammend the article and then stand in the corner:( Its actually a 90BHP raise over stock NA figures
Gaz6002
I would be more interested in the torque figure TBH. Would love to see a dyno sheet as well. I've got the mag waiting for me at home so I guess i'll have to wait. (HINT: got a scanner? )
Daston
ah thats what confused me as there is talk of TTing the V8 over on the clubna-t forums
SupraAyf
I would be more interested in the torque figure TBH. ) Up by 90lb ft I've got the mag waiting for me at home so I guess i'll have to wait. (HINT: got a scanner? ) I don't know how to use the scanner Gaz but lets see if I can take a photo mate:eyebrows:

Mike B
perfect - thanks for doing that, was going to pop out and get it... I'd live to do a v12 like the Top secret car, a project over time, just to keep myself busy!.. if I had the time!
Pete
It will cost you and I about £4 - £4.5K 'all in' for Thor to do the work and this will produce an increase of 90BHP over stock NA figures. Eh? 90bhp? 3.0 to 4.7l V8 - over 50% capacity increase and two extra cylinders and that get's you just 90 bhp? Torque graph would be more interesting I'm sure. Even just 90lb increase seems a bit lame to me for the layout. Might as well go buy a TT... or a V8 with more poke.
Mike
Might as well go buy a TT. Well I didn't want to say that.... 4.5k for 90bhp?! I'm sure it's the 'can it be done' factor...
blitz supra
Saw this at Japshow Santa Pod last year, (if same car?) very good mod and looks like it was there as Toyota factory fitment
Gamer
But it makes a cool noise Is the V8 a lighter engine then the 3.0 n/a ? If not I am failing to see the point, surely a 3.0 TT lump would be better value.
Gaz6002
cheers for the scans dude! i'm guessing the torque figure and the weight of the engine play an important factor. Interesting project all the same though. A twin turbo one would be better though

According to the article Joe, it is lighter and also 5 inches shorter
Robbie
Its a direct fit if you use a soarer with a rear bell sump. Even the engine mounts are supposed to be close. Its 80lbs lighter and does indeed sit further back into the engine bay! Check out: http//www.lextreme.com
Gaz6002
So it's an alternative to the 3s-gte conversion then? That sounds more like it. Would make a good track car in that case, what with the weight distribution. Still, wack some turbos on there and then we are talking! Gamer
That makes more sense now. I wonder if there is much room left for a turbo or two
Gazboy
That's an expensive 90bhp! You might as well go the full moo and shove a LS2 engine in there for a few grand more.
michel lane
i think thats a bit of waste of money in my opion , £2500 buys you a turbo conversion that brings you a good 350bhp.. thats a better investment.
