uksupra
Ok real strange one here... just noticed tonight on way home, when revving or accelerating from idle i get a little rattle noise for about 1 second..... if u have revs above idle and the rev higher the rattle is not present... sound appears to be from around the cam gears... cover removed nothing visible anything else that this could be? uksupra
is that located behind the cover that goes over all the cogs?(technical term) it almost sounds like something is loose but the fact it only rattles from idle up and not above idle up is confusing

TT-DEK
I had this. Bought a new tensioner, but could possibly be just the bearing inside this on its way out? I learned the hard way as well? changed the t/belt also, costly exercise, but i suppose worth it in the end.
wilko
i had this with mine, used a stethoscope and found it to be the drive belt tensioner, replaced it and problem gone, if its this there about 90 quid from toyota mate

uksupra
thanks guys... going by the pic teh sound seems to be from just below the two main gears!, im hoping its something like a washer i may have dropped down there a while back!!! just seems weird i only heard it the other night and how it only does it on idle up revving! will investigate over the weekend...
