Battery Help

Hi, I’m going to be fitting my Blitz boost controller this weekend, it states that you should disconnect the battery. Thing is I don’t really want to do this as it might make the immobiliser kick in….I have a UK spec. The battery was drained the other week as we left the key in for hours while we worked on the car only for the alarm not to work after we jump started it. Will it totally knack up if I disconnect the battery?

AJI had a problem with the battery going flat, but he removed the battery when it was dead but his immobiliser kicked in, would mine be ok? Or not?

Help me please before the weekend,

Paul

TBH before doing any electrical work you should disconect the battery! would you wire in a new circuit in your house without disconecting the mains? Spikeing a circuit while wiring in is the main killer of components just a though but its your choice:)

When Aron (AJI) let his battery go dead, he then took off the battery which made the immobiliser kick in, and also it stopped his cd player etc from working, is that because it went flat then was taken off the car?

When my battery went flat, we jumped it and now the alarm doesn't work and the security light stays on!

mmmmmm

It may, it may not. It is a problem on UKs. Mine was fine many many times and then screwed up. It is a risk you'll have to take (battery always should be disconnected for this stuff). If it does decide to pack in, you can get them to reprogram it.

:)

Not before Elvington on sunday :p

I'm fitting the boost controller on saturday for sundays drag strip at Elvington.....watch it pack up! That would be just my luck!

When the battery went dead we jumped it and it worked so it should be fine eh?

So did mine many times, then picked an opportune time to fail. It may fail and may not, it just picks its own time to go.

If it does happen, you can get the car working, so not the end of the world, just another 2 hours of work!

i'm having a similar problem 1996 uk tt, battery went flat so i disconnected it to charge. when i reconnected the alarm went off, so i left it untill i found the fob. reconnected the battery again, the alarm didn't go off this time, the engine turns over but she won't fire - puzzled, so i took a plug out, no fuel getting to the engine................Any ideas. it points towards the fuel pump being immobilised but the alarm light isn't illumintaed. to add to the fun, my alarm fob doesn't work, i'm going to try a new battery but i fear it may be a little more serious!!! Is there a secret reset for the immobilisor?????
