How many had a Raleigh Chopper?

The common problem with the Raleigh Chopper was the handle bars breaking at the stem. Also with the titchy front wheels, you spent alot of time somersaulting off if you turned in too tightly. Probably leading to more handlebar/collar bone fractures. Much better was the Raleigh Commando with 3 speed twist grip Sturmey Archer gears. If you were clever you could even get NEUTRAL! Grifter!! remember the gear change was inside the hub - there was a linkage like a chainthat came out of the side - It was always getting mashed, and when it didn't work it would slip and you take your nuts out on the bar. at least twice a day!!!

young and stupid!
