How does the cruise control work?

I need a crash course in the cruise control. I've worked out the 'push button on or off and press down to set speed' bit, but what does pushing the lever up do?

Tried the online manual but couldn't seem to find the page. Has anyone got a scan of the relevant page?

Many thanks.

I'm purely going by memory here, so don't take this as totally correct, but it's something like this...

Pushing up whilst in cruise mode, will increase your speed by about 2 mph per push, or you can push and hold to overtake someone, and it'll then drop down to the previous speed. Pushing down has the opposite effect.

IIRC you can also push or pull (cant remember which), to cancel cruise.

You may find it won't engage cruise over 70mph if the speed converter hasn't been done properly.

Okay, I probably need to have a play. I did try pushing it up but couldn't seem to sense anything happening (it's marked 'ACC' so I assumed it was accelerate - but then thought it might be accident so I quickly let it go again... :) )

It's well handy for 30mph limits.

Thanks folks, top stuff.

Stupid question: I've noticed it will maintain the same speed when it starts going uphill (impressive) but I assume it won't do the same going downhill? Maggie thought it should but I couldn't see how it could without applying the brakes...?
