imi
Question The bit where Hugh & JC explain that one needs to sit at an angle in a porche (lower half pointed inwards due to it being right hand drive) and the steering facing forward.... can anyone explain that in more detail? the reasoning behind it? and why its particular to some cars (JC mentioned the Lancia too) ta
supra666
Not to sure, My dad owns a Ferrari Dino and the seating position is the same, think it's the way the chassis is made.
ChrisSZ
Shape of the shell/floorpan means that the pedal box is offset in relation to the steering wheel/seat. Not uncommon
Jake
It's because they were designed as wrong hand drive cars and the pedals, steering column, etc can't be located in quite the correct position when making a right hand drive version. We have similar problems when fitted single turbo kits that were designed for yank Supras to our RHD Supes.
PJ
My old Alpha 33 Cloverleaf was like that until it rusted to pieces!!
tbourner
My brother had a 33 - 1.5Ti Veloce - very nice! You get bad back if you drive too long in a car with an offset seating position!
Guest Phillw454
think they ment the pedals and sterring wheel wern't straight so your body was abit twisted when driving, eg top half straight with the wheel but legs at a angel to be srtaight on the pedals, i think. Daston
isnt the porches partly due to the fuel tank being at the front on the left hand side??
Seb
Odd thing is I drove an LHD S600 Merc and the seating position in that was slightly offset.
