best coilovers

what's the benefit of having coilovers for daily driving on normal roads?

:yeahthat:

I'd thought the benefit of coilovers was to either fit large wheels, or to be able to customise most of the settings of your suspension... If your cars for 99% road use, is there any extra value in getting them?...

coilovers are a fair bit lighter, and take up less space under arches, (for wider wheels).

JIC magic coilovers are the best all rounders if you can find a set.

the longevity of the HKS ones is debatable, and theyre very stiff even on softest setting i have heard.

tein are very good from what ive heard too. shame the electronic adjustment only does stiffness not height else theyd be ideal for speedbumps.

Coilovers aren't that much lighter, I was lugging around a box of Tein SS today  26.35kg a set including packaging, which is similar to a set of Bilsteins, springs and top mounts.

I had my HKS Hypermax II's fitted about 5 years ago and they are still going strong :)

The new Tein coilovers are good, Tein do do height adjustable coilovers but not for the Supra though :(

i know what you mean about lugging suspension around mate,

i had to send my JICs to US for recon, 22kg approx, then my yellow billies n springs to ireland when i sold them, just over 28kg. so 6kg difference, id say thats a fair bit, maybe not so noticable on a lardy supe tho! lol.

it was chris wilson that warned me off the hks, he said hes constantly finding problems with them

teins or those gaz suggested sound best, JICs are more expensive,

im surprised by wez's comment,

why dont u find the JICs good for dayly drive wez? im very very happy with mine, - like a go cart! lol

Got mine last week there a nice bit of kit...

Yup, I'm liking that, could you do us a favour and give us a run down of what they're like when you get them fitted.

I get the feeling my shocks are knackered, they are feeling a bit 'crashy' (sorry, thats the only word I can think to describe it) of late and feel its time for an upgrade.

I don't suppose they were mine which you were lugging around were they nic? :D

If not, any timeframe on mine? The EDFC, motors, gauge and surrounds all arrived safe and well.

Yes they were, posted everything else out yesterday, I will pm you tracking numbers.
