michael
That was the episode that should have started the new series, good to see it back up to it's usual high standards - loved the joke about the child molesters, maybe it will make a few people think when they hit the motorway tomorrow
Wez
Really enjoyed that, great show. That car is some machine, amazing piece of engineering.

RedM
I think it was a change to the published edition. No mention of the rail thing and I'm sure the advertised Star in a shit car was Simon (Spaced, Shaun o't Dead, Hot Fuzz)Pegg rather than Huge Grunt. In fact the TG site says this about the show: On hole-in-one Top Gear, we crashed a really big train into a French people carrier, James drove very fast indeed, and the presenters headed off to a country club for a round of golf. James went to VW’s top secret test track in east Germany with one very special mission: to take the Bugatti Veyron up to its top speed of 252mph. This he achieved with consummate ease and a stiff upper lip, although it did make his eyes water a bit. It’s also worth pointing out that this makes Jeremy our third fastest presenter. Small coupes are all about looking good. Golf, on the other hand, is all about wearing brightly coloured trousers and looking absolutely ridiculous. However, this didn’t stop from us taking the latest fashionable offerings from Audi, Mazda and Alfa Romeo to the links for a round of pitch and putt. Jeremy established that the new Audi TT is no longer just a VW Golf in a nice frock. James tried to persuade us that the Alfa Brera’s soul and passion make up for its worrying lack of pace. And Richard argued that the Mazda RX-8 is the one to have, simply because you won’t find any in your local golf club’s car park. After this we headed off to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art to get an expert opinion on design and styling. Each of the presenters had just a few minutes to persuade a panel of arty professors that their car deserved a place on a plinth in the museum. James managed to bore everyone into submission, and the Brera was unanimously voted the car most worthy of its own art exhibition. It’s a tragic fact that one person dies each month in an accident at a railway level crossing, usually while trying to jump the lights. In a genuine effort to stop this, we teamed up with Railtrack to show you what happens when hundreds of tonnes of locomotive crash into a car. And, just to prove that even a five-star N-CAP rating won’t help you, we used a Renault Espace. Finally, floppy-haired British heart-throb Hugh Grant became an A-list star in a C-list car when he drove our Lacetti. His lap was pretty good, but it was his foul-mouthed swearing that really impressed. First shown on: 04/02/2007
ivan
So who's Mr Slow on Top Gear now then? Both the Hamster and Captain slow have driven faster than '42" waist in 24" trousers' Jezza...
Ric
wasnt sombody killed on the railway the other day though? they probably didnt show that cus of it
Shilakadaddy
I thought the part where they showed a clip from Hugh Grant's new film was really odd... made the episode seem much more of a general chat show than a car program. Still enjoyed it though.
Jive
I thought the part where they showed a clip from Hugh Grant's new film was really odd... I thought the same thing, very strange, hope they don't make a point of doing this in the future as up till that point I was enjoying the interview. Cracking show though and the Veyron, phew what a car
RedM
I reckon that shifting the train thing left them with a hole that the Hugh Grant interview and clip fit into. That's why they also shifted the Simon Pegg interview.
