terribleturner
OK, been trying to set up my new Orange Wirless LiveBox now for what seems ages and today i made a small break though. I can connect straight to the box with the cable, but wirless it wont let me. Plus evertime i look at the IP Adress it says 0.0.0.0, and the Subnet Mask (whatever that is) also says 0.0.0.0. Am i right in thinking the IP address.Subnet Mask is wrong and somehow need configuring??
terribleturner
Another thing is in my Wirless Ntework Connections i can see mine sat there, but it keeps saying "Aquiring Network Adress".
hiten55
sounds like you need to reset your router - it may have confused itself.
terribleturner
Bugger. Apoligies being a numpty at all this, but just unplug/turn off, leave it for 30 sec to a minute and try again??
geoffvalenti
You should get an IP address by DHCP from the wireless router. Can you administer the router from the machine that connects to it with an ethernet cable. You need to be able to see the settings in the router, like the SSID, and whether it has any security set up.
hiten55
yeah try that, if it doesnt work, there may be a reset switch on the back. if that doesnt work, log into the router's homepage by: 1.plug a network cable into it 2.got to http://Http://192.168.x.x (depending on router) in internet explorer 3. restore factory settings (or something similar) What make is the router? Konrad
It depends if his router letting in only TRUSTED stations. If it is doing this, you have to add XBox MAC adress to trusted stations list. If not, you should get IP automaticly because router is using DHCP server, which is giving IP to all computers around
terribleturner
All done I had to call the help number again for the 4th time today and got through to a very tired Lisa who went through about 4 avenues before finding the problem. There was also an issue with my WEP key. But i am now typing with NO CONNECTIONS. But damn is it slower Don't talk to me about that bloody CD Jon. Everytime i clicked on the first option on my laptop it went straight to the HELP file. Got sent a 2nd CD and the same. So had to take a different route. Thanks again to everyone for helping

penguin
Its only sad because you are sat right next to me, and you replied to my post. get a room you two just seen this thread.. my cd did the same thing... tt.. it takes a few days for the router/line to get a good speed... so it will go faster and slower and then stabilise.. you have to press the 1 button to allow the router to become discoverable so you can add new devices (stays discoverable for ten min unless you configure it yourself...) as for Ip addressing.. leave the defaults unless you know what you're doing
