CJ
I am after some advice on an internet based telephone system with a minimum outlay. The system would have to be compatible with having one phone in Bahrain and 3 phones in the UK. I don't know anything at all about what is available and am not too switched on technically so if you can keep it to layman's terms it would be great
hiten55
i believe, if you go for the Tesco's system you can call each other for free. all you do is walk in and purchase over the counter. might also be worth contacting your isp to see what they can do. Konrad
You just buy number in Bahrain and 3 numbers in UK, Skype can arrange this for you. You have to pay year subscription, i'm not sure how much is it. If you put 10 pounds on your Skype account, you have a free call everywhere in UK. If you use number from Bahrain - you get calls in Bahrain for local charge, which is I belive less than 1 eurocent? Also people calling from Bahrain on your Bahrain number paying local rate. Quality of Skype is USUALLY good, but at time of high net traffic it can be pain on ass

geoffvalenti
Hi Col I'm using Voipcheap at the moment http://www.voipcheap.co.uk Lots of calls are free, and most are pretty reasonable. Have a look on the site, you don't need a lot of hardware to get started and you can use mobile numbers to spoof a call from as well

CJ
I have just looked on the Tesco site and the calls between tesco Skype phones re fee - anywhere in the world. So, according to that, if I bought 4 sets of phones, then all calls between them (including one in Bahrain) would be free. Sounds like a plan methinks

Konrad
Ok, let's put it straight then. You need to BUY one number in Bahrain and ONE number in UK. Buying this numbers is good, if you want people to call you to those number at local charge rate. If you have missus in Bahrain and this is only thing you want to phone there, you do not need to buy number for her, just call her for free (Skype to Skype connection is free). In UK - if one of your phones is your bussiness phone - it is worth to buy number, so people will call on this one for local charge. If you just need to communicate between those 3 uk numbers and 1 in Bahrain - it should be free of charge in Skype anyway And yea, you do not need phone if you have computer, just microphone and speakers or mic and headphones And installed Skype client
