Headlight beam adjustment

Recommended Posts

I've fitted some new glass UK spec headlights but the beam alignment is way off what it should be.

I been trying to adjust the nearside light by turning the silver colour rods that have a hex end and philips slots. Is that right? Only it doesn't seem to be making any difference to the headlight beam height. One of the rods seems to affect the sideways adjustment but the other one does nothing, as far as I can see.

Am I doing it wrong?

They are the adjusters you're moving, so you're in the right area.

One will adjust the sideways angle on the main beam, the other adjusts the up/down of the fog light.

The height of the main beam is adjusted by turning the little white bolt on the rear of the motor.

The adjustment is fairly minute. I found it easier to park the car in front of a garage door or a brick wall, (something with a defined pattern to use as an ajustment guide).

You can't adjust the high beam.

Good luck :)

Mmm interesting!

I managed to adjust the up / down of the the regular beam with the silver thing, I didn't go near the white plastic effort.... or maybe I just adjusted everything so badly that it looked right?

It seems to work well and it passed the MOT recently.... maybe I should get it checked at some point :)

That's very helpful, Thanks Matt!

I didn't touch the little motor thing in case I broke something.

One thing, when you say Main Beam you're talking about the dipped beam, right? (I've always called the high beam Main Beam)

Anyway, thanks for the advice
