Steve Gee
I've recently upgraded from the standard 16"s, to a set of 18"s with 235/40's on the front and 255/35's on the rear. Any suggestions as to what the tyre pressures should be? It feels a little skittish, especially on a light fuel load. My local tyre supplier and I played around a bit, going round the block with different pressures and the best set-up found was 32 in the front and 36 in the rear. Any comments welcomed. Doughie
Whatever works Steve ! The 18" WILL feel quite different to 16" and it does not surprise me that it feels a bit skittish by comparison. They're lower profile, and the sidewalls will be stiffer so effectively you've got less suspension compliance and that means it will feel quite a bit harder due to the lower profile tyres absorbing much less of road bumps etc. I think you'll get used to it. Tyre pressures are a fairly personal thing, but it sounds like you're in the right ball-park. cheers
Guest Ash
Now that *is* amazing. Because when I did an 18" wheel swap I played around with various settings and 32 front 36 rear seemed about the best for me too. Yours, J
Phil
I'm running 34psi all round and it seems OK, I upped it a couple of psi on the track as well. I think I'll try out your recommendations and see if there is much difference.
Alex
I've got mine 255 ZR18 rears at about 34psi. Just a shade light to try to keep good grip in the wet conditions we've been having recently. The front 235's I have at about 36psi as I like the front end to feel alive!
Phil
You might get heavy wear in the centre with 36psi though. I'd keep an eye on the tread.
