Playing Devils Advocate to Tom's Aristo thread.

The topic for today is this:

Does having a Supra engine mean any old car with one fitted should be on the Supra forum?

There is an S2000 with one, a Silvia with one and possibly many others. Should they be on their own car forums or should we welcome them here? Would any Supra owner sign up to an Aristo forum just because we share the 'same' engine?

I'll wait for a few replies before sharing my thoughts.

Most of us aristo owners used to or still do own a supra. We became members when we had our supra's and have just decided to stay on as the level of tech knowledge on here regarding the the engine is something we value alot so i don't see the big deal in us still being members.

Ive always thought Aristo's should be accepted mainly because they are so much rarer and would be difficult to have their own forum with enough activity as us. As least the Aristo is the same dog, just different leg. And they arent a conversion.

As for the S2000, man have you ever been on a honda car forum! They talk some shite on there! And its very boring reading posts as to how much BHP extra I will get from adding a decat to my B16!

I bet they would want to escape!

Martin,

I find this thread offensive and nasty.

I owned a Supra b4 the Aristo. I still buy things from members on here as they fit my car.

Do you want me out of the Club as I don't drive a Supra if so.

When are you proposing we get rid of Mawby and others that no longer own a Supra.

After all I am paid up member so when are you paying me my fee back

I see what hes saying, but most of the Aristo owners on here are ex Supra owners so have been around and I see no reason why they cant stay.

Besides theres more in common with the 2 cars than just the engine.

At least with a UK spec I can say the engines arnt the same (thank you steel bladed turbos) ;)

:yeahthat:

I loved my Supra and joined up because of it but ended up selling up due to kids not fitting in the back, the Aristo was the ideal replacement.

As Robert says, the tech knowledge here is invaluable, even though I post on the Aristo owners club more so than I do here.. The Aristo scene is pretty small at the moment, but ever increasing, mainly from Supra ownership to Aristo ownership from what I can see.

Supra > Aristo seems to be a natural progression for those that need a car with useable rear seats and a boot, but without compromising in performance.

The Aristo owners club http://www.clubaristo.co.uk is starting to pick up quite a bit now, but still a bit on the quiet side, but as you say that is due to the rarity of the beast!

Who said anything about getting Aristo owners to leave? Not me.

I love them. I totally understand about the technical knowledge on this forum being of immense value and I also see that it is one possible route for the Supra owner that needs something larger.

I think I've only ever seen three Aristos in the flesh and Tom's is a stunner.

Just trying to start an interesting thread (note the 'Devils Advocate' in the title) and get some opinions flowing.

Sheesh!
