Thanks West Yorkshire Police. Just what I needed!

Whilst driving through some roadworks (20mph limit due to loose stones and shite) a police car comes teararsing though from the opposite direction, blues and twos a go-go, and sprays gravel all over my car.

A couple of nice chips to the windscreen and a few down the side. Thank god I'll now have to spend money on that. I was in danger of actually being close to doing something for the car that I wanted, for a change.:(

Can I claim off of them or does being on an emergency call leave them exempt?

yes contact them saying he was overtaking the other car at silly speeds too close to you, dangrously infact causing damage to your car.

If he actually hit you then obviously they have some sort of payout scheme, so why not for damaged cause by that

that sucks mate :(

i remember picking up my 300zx from a spray shop a fews years back, the only way home was on a road that had just been re surfaced so i drove it like a granny, then some twat in a sierra came belting it past me, sounded like hail stones all over the car..

paint was chipped to fcuk :(

it's worth trying to claim, but i'm not sure how you'll get on with out details of the car ect :(

Edit: if the road was pretty loose then surely there will be stone chip damage to the car, it might just help you confirm your story is true when finding the car in question

I sometimes think that rational thought ceases to exist where people's cars are concerned.

Can you imagine people's reaction if a serious crime could have been prevented / minimised if the police had arrived somewhere 2 minutes earlier - and their justification for not getting there quickly enough was "I was going over some loose gravel and I had to slow down to 20mph so I didn't damage the paintwork on some guys Supra".

I sympathise - I'd be pissed off if it happened to me - but FFS.....

This is exactly why I haven't phone them or anything. Yeah, I'm pissed off but it wasn't deliberate. I'd much rather they get to where they need to be.

Wrong place at the wrong time really.
