steb9780
I am after getting a cheap sat nav if I can. Dont do enough trips to warrant buying an expensive one but it would be handy to have one. Any recommendations??

Will do mate, I can't really splash out at the moment, the car is going to Chris Wilson's next week for new clutch and flywheel.
Todd
you can get a navman for £99 and it'll get you where you want to go but the maps are well out of date and the user interface is really clunky. Can get a refurbed Tomtom one for £150, actually just popped the speed camera db on my wee brothers tonight, cracking bit of kit. Other option is to get a pda, gps receiver and a "trial" version of tomtom of the net.
Pot
Got a TomTom One UK myself, and apart from the odd funny bit (Find todays thread in 'Supra Chat'), it's caused me no hassles... Always gets me where I want, and the GPS Speed's a handy feature...

merckx
It looks like it can be an ex demo, so I'm not sure. Pay an extra £28 and get a new one. http://www.find-tomtom-deals.co.uk/?gclid=CPH0_If4ooICFTFQQgod3zfIaA

It does prefer the hierachy of roads, ie, motorways, then A roads, and so on, and does prefer doing a u-turn to go up then right, then down, to get to your destination, but so does new factory fitted Mercedes Sat Nav... I don't have any annoying problems with it, and the price is cheap, it's always got me to where I need to go... The speed camera alerts are great (You should find them for free), and the traffic alerts are useful (I bought both for 49 euros for a year)... Well worth the money compared to the more expensive units out there I'd say (I think it was well over £1k for the Merc unit I'm comparing it to), and funny with the customisable voices... Don't worry about the memory size if you're only going to stay with UK maps...
steb9780
Anybody had experience with the Sony?? Never seen them before doing GPS but they don't tend to put ther name on anything unless it's decent http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-Sat-Nav-NV-U50G-Satellite-Navigation-BNIB-SatNav_W0QQitemZ120080067546QQihZ002QQcategoryZ75327QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Pot
Erm... My mate's got one in his car, it looks a bit girly, but he always swears it's great... But his Mrs bought it for him and she's always stood by him, and I think she beats him up behind closed doors...

Shane
Garmin C510 is great, cost me £149 and I reckon it is great, easy to use and FULL post code. Some of the cheaper ones don't use the full post code and take you near to where you want to go rather than right to the door. Also another member on here has subscribed to a site which provides camera updates which I have tried and works well. Camera comes with Garmin's own camera alerts and you get free updates from them for the first 12 months. Has some really nice features and would reccomend it. Also I have finally managed to get the Worls maps from a P2P site and git it to run. tried it out in France last week and works well. For just £149 I can't reccomend it enough. PJ
If you have a symbian phone (Nokia N70 etc...) just obtain a copy of TomTom Mobile 5 and load it up on a 1gb memory card and buy a bluetooth GPS receiver from eBay (circa £10). Job done
steb9780
Does anyone use a PDA?? I have seen the Acer N35 it looks decent enough. How do these rate compared to the dedicated units??
Konrad
Just get this TomTom you shown at first link - it will be enough for your needs, other solutions here with mobiles and PDA's need more hassle and seperate bluetooth GPS usually... Personally I use Nokia N70 with "trial" tomtom5 and GPS receiver for 40 pounds (do not to see sky to navigate, you can put it anywhere). Pabs
tomtom one Nice and small, and has all the features you could need. My boss went for a TomTom 510, but is now a little annoyed at the size - and wants the new tomtom one.
