Jake
I've recently switched from 1meg DSL broadband to 4meg cable. But now I've found that I can get 2meg DSL for free from my satellite TV provider (Sky). I'm tied to a 12 month contract with my cable supplier - so I'll have both. To take advantage of both cable and DSL at the same time I'm told I need a 'load balancing router' - is that right? They seem kinda expensive at over £
Gaz6002
if you want to use both at the same time for the same thing then yep thats what you will need

Thorin
I guess you'd be looking at something like this... http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2910.html ~£150 I think, I was considering it at one point. It's a router only so I'd still need a couple of ADSL modems too. It's possible to use a linux box with two network cards in it to do the same thing though. JustGav
Jake, I use my cable line as my primary line with my adsl being the backup if the NTL goes down. Load balancing causes all sorts of issues especially when you use two different ISPs. You are in effect just randomly sending packets to different ISPs, and things such as MSN video and games just can't handle two different source address. I use IPCop to handle it all, it does layer7 filtering, URL filtering; good for protecting kiddies.
