Hi all from Dublin, Ireland

I have been skulking around your fantastic group for a while now.

Its fantastic to find a group like this with genuine people.

Anyway, 'bout time I said hello.

Got my supra last sept, was looking for about 18 mths previous to that.

its a 98 j-spec tt, with vvti 6spd manual in quicksilver. with some hks mods, have a list somewhere.........

I think I'll keep it forever..............

Anyway, i hope to be able to contribute from time to time, but I think some of you guys are out of my league. I am still learning about my car.

Best regards

John O'Toole

Many thanks to all for your words of welcome.

There are not too many supes her, thats a fact, but I think that makes them even a little more exotic.

Parts and servicing a real pain in the ass.

Toyota Ireland gust dont wanna know, not like they would have a clue anyway.

I brought it to a local toyota main dealer for its first service.

They just changed the oil and oil filter and charged me €250, thats about £130-£150 or so.

They said they cleaned and gapped the sparks.

I know for a fact that they didnt touch them, as I replaced them myself with HKS iridiums. Th old ones hadnt been touched.

Anyway, enough griping.

Again many thanks to all.

Thanks for the welcome John, and everybody.

Brakes are pretty good for sure.

I think they are stock though.

Couldnt be sure, but I think around 97 or 98 all jap spec supra turbos got the big european brakes as standard.

As for the sparks. I had the hks ones on order and deliberately asked the garage ( a toyota main dealer) not to touch the ones in the car when servicing it.

Their suggestion to clean and gap them.

Wouldn't inspire confidence, would it.

Then again. Here in ireland at least, I find that most of the motor industry (sales and servicing) are not the most honest. Particularly the main dealers.
