markjodrell
They did me fine on two cars with agreed value, I think maybe the happy customers are not being as vocal as the unhappy ones! EDIT: Going up against Confused, Elephant, Admiral etc. etc. they came out best, not just in price but also terms & conditions. ADMIRAL If you have a policy with Admiral , as I do, give them a call. Ask them if in the case of a total loss (write off) how much would they pay out. This will be particulary interesting if you have declared mods such as alloys/exhausts and the like for which you will have been charge an extra premium They will NOT pay any extra for the mods done , even though you have paid more to insure them, they say thats because the mods make the car more desirable and therefore more likley to be stolen. I said told them thats a fair comment if its stolen but what if its written off.Same answer , they will only pay out market value.i.e that is what somebody like a high street garage like Greenhouse or main agents would give you for your car. Believe me that the figure would be a JOKE. So basically they ask you what your car is worth when you take the policy out. That figure has absolutley NO significance if or when they come to pay out on your car.
SupraAyf
They are interested in quoting for more, so as soon as I do the deal (next few days) I'll post full details. That sounds good indeed Gatso - I think a good few of us would be interested in that mucka;)

I have no expectations that admiral or elephant would at first give a decent pay out price if I ever need to claim. But im running a standard TT and i think it would be hard for them to argue that i could replace it for less than 6k-7k. Which i would be happy with. Unfortunately because of my age, (21) companies like this can offer me cheaper car insurance. Proper companies cant. Car insurance for me is all about price at the moment. When im older, ill be able to choose reputation over price. But unfortunately not right now.

Safely Insured
Valid points all round Mawby and I for one appreciate the time it takes you guys to sort things like this for the club;) The only disappointing issue that I have with SKY is that Jae is now fully aware of what is going on from reading these posts, and yet his company has done relatively little about it (i.e. it appears that not one club member has been approached by SKY to present or suggest any form of price reduction or cost matching). SKY do visit the forum every so often but I think its more to assess the competition issue and not to address any questions that any of the members may have on insurance - or at least they don't seem to get involved with the cost and competitive side to the argument; however constructive! At the end of the day, SKY are here to make money first and foremost and they seem to be doing a good job of that!! I do visit the forum often, to check competitors, answers members questions, join in conversations that interest me and post top ten scores on Yeti Pentathlon. Of courses I am on here to make money, isn't every authorised trader. This is my job and best way I can do it is to try and keep my customers as happy as I can. I think if your honest SupraAyf your only problem with Sky is we could not offer you a better price. I do not have a magic wand that I can wave at peoples premiums and cut them in half. If I could I would. I have underwriting rules I have follow. If you want me to look at your policy to see if there is something we missed that could reduce your premium then just contact me and I will try my best. Just wish you were a little cheaper for me
Sheefa
I believe Jae, Scott and the team at Sky are brillient and worth the extra 3100-£200 imo. They answer questions clearly, turnaround documentation without fault (or have done recently ) and provide an agreed value that they have 'agreed' will be paid to you regardless of you messing up or a TP running into you (see other thread). I'll be sticking with Sky for a long time...........providing they lower my premium next year! Hint, hint Jae! Greg
turbonut
Hi I went to sky when I bought my Supra December last year. They knocked 20 quid off another quote I'd been given. They were efficient, thorough, clear and patient as this is my first Jap performance car its all a bit new! They also offered to mirror the no claims on my Yaris T Sport til its sold. They've been great from the word go,friendly and helpful. Hopefully they will stay competetive for me next time around, but with such good customer care a few quid more than the nearest competitor is easier to swallow and reassuring should the worst come to the worst - hopefully not! Bob
Sky weren't the cheapest for me, but they did match the quote from Adrian Flux. Cheaper than them were the likes of Elephant and DIrect Line, but quite frankly you get what you pay for. I don't mind paying an extra 1-200 quid just for the greater peace of mind. And I still haven't got round to sending Sky a copy of my driving licence (ongoing argument with the DVLA who "lost it" ) or the pictures of the car (only just back in one piece and on the road, and still a stripped out interior until I get a chance to put it right!) imi
So basically they ask you what your car is worth when you take the policy out. That figure has absolutley NO significance if or when they come to pay out on your car. Hmm - this is worrying....I would like any company to agreed on the value of my car in the event of theft, write-off, fire or whatever. When im older, ill be able to choose reputation over price. But unfortunately not right now. You aint got a prayer mate of getting 6k - 7k for an L reg off Admiral. ( I personally am not saying it isnt worth that) Put it this way I have a 1996 on a P TT, declared 18" alloys and aftermarket exhaust , 44k miles certified. When I spoke to both the customer services and the claims dept I tried to pin them down on some sort of value in the case of a write off claim.I put the value of mine down on the policy as £7K and Admiral wouldnt give me a pay off price but said fot a 1996 car it would be nothing like 7k. Probably more like 3k - 5k depending on pre accident condition.. They went on to say that VERY few insurance companies would give or honour a fixed value due to people insuring a shed with a inflated value then putting it down a ditch. I was on the phone for about 30 mins arguing the toss with them , cost to replacme my car etc etc etc. I only took this policy out in Dec but come this dec at renewal I will be shopping around, unless I write it off and buy a Hyrundi with the payoff
imi
SKY do insure the car to an agreed value/ I wonder whether they do honour that 100% without question. and surely they are not the only ones offering this service, there must be more. And i would ask them quite amicably to find me an example of a TT to my specification which could be had for less than that figure. No way they could argue that the car is worth 3k just because its old. That makes no sense. Well i hope so at least, I had better not crash my car to be on the safe side! Apparently, according to Admiral few others offer a fixed value, but I suppose they would say that.I dont think many would though. It would be interesting to hear from somebody who has actually had a write off payout settlement from SKY. Any volunteers
Safely Insured
I don't know of any Supras i've lost off the top of my head but we have had a few FTO's go recently with agreed values.
ECK
i just took out insurance with sky today! i only sent jae a p.m he gave me a quick call took a few details and gave me a better quote by £40 very helpfull, polite, guarinteed value, like for like on all my mods all done and dusted within 30 mins! cant ask for better from anybody or anywhere i would defo recomend to anyone:) plus they seem to know what they are talking about and last but not least you get to deal with people in THIS country not some call centre in europe somewhere alex:)
Rayman
Sky where great for me, very fast, good quote, easy to speak to. No probs, you can't expect them to do the best deal for everyone. I think its great that they post up here from time to time, i even PM'd them and they replied. Where else can you get this service?
Rico2006
I rang SKY today to let them know about the new 19's , D2 Brakes and FMIC i installed over the last week or so . I Was expecting the premium to go up to reflect the extras, but it didnt. I assume when I get the modifications forms back and want to increase the Agreed Value, i may be in for a shock though. Very happy with Sky, £600 or so all in with a protected no claims. Not bad considering the 28 day ban i got with an SP30.
imi
Apparently, according to Admiral few others offer a fixed value, but I suppose they would say that.I dont think many would though. Well, if like SKY they provide a certificate insuring against the guaranteed value then I am happy. Without that certificate its all bollocks anyway.
