Anyone know how to fix washing machines?

Ours has started making horrible banging noises and stopped spinning.

I took the back and top off and the springs, concrete bolts, shock absorber all seem fine.

On closer inspection of the drum itself the inner bit seems to be loose and not attached somehow. I'd have thought it would've been attached to the centre bit at the back or something.

I can't see how to get into the drum or see how it would dismantle.

Am I wasting my time? Should I just go and buy a new one :(

I suppose 9 years isn't bad for a washing machine.

May as well get a new one mate - the cost for parts and labour would proabably equal the cost of a new budget one anyway!

I fixed ours once, though admittedly I was left with half a dozen spare screws. Still works though :D

The drum bearing's probably collapsed, it's almost certainly not worth fixing unless it's quite new and quite an expensive machine.

Nah, old and was ex-demo closing down sale 200 quid back then! ;)

Like you, I believe my house hold appliances should last forever.
