terribleturner
Not me but a friend of a young lady i work with. She asked me what i thought he'd get, but after talking with Doug (ClassOne) It seems i was way out. He spoke to his solicister this afternoon who said £2000 fine, possible 2 year sentence, mandatory retest with something else about checking on him from time to time. And he was told that in Oxford they will probably make an example of him and give him as much as they can. And it now turns out that it wasn't 160, but 174 in his companies new Porche. As you can imagine he no longer works for the company and is a little worried.

Konrad
He should use private tracks, like we all do, when driving over 70 mph!

stupra
I think he'll go down, I know a guy who got caught doing 172 mph on his bike, an he got sent down, and got a big fine. How gutted must he be ?, bet he's shiting himself.
chilli
omg that is bad. you could lose a lot getting caught for something like that, makes you think doesn't it

Pabs
well - i just think speeds like that are ridiculous. I know I'd love to do them, one day, but even I wouldn't be as stupid as to do that on a public road.
Havard
I would have expected that such a high speed would be accompanied by a stretch surely!! This might be his next view!! http://img480.imageshack.us/img480/4939/trapdz2.jpg H.

paul ashton
Oops!... Surely that's close to being a record?... Probably,i saw 171 on the clock on my bike 2's up 17 years ago.
merckx
What a nightmare. But he deserves all he gets really and I would too if I got caught going that fast. If you overtake a car going at that speed it could so easily pull out resulting in many fatalities !

DrivingTheDream
Unlucky-The law of averages would say to get to that speed and get caught must be slim.
Class One
He might (but I doubt) get away without a custodial sentence as the prisons are full up at the moment. But certainly the max fine (£2000) a lengthy ban, a mandatory retest. And he would have been charged with (by virtue of the speed he was doing) Dangerous Driving. He might also be referred to the Crown Court for sentencing as District Judges that sit in the Magistrates Courts have limited sentencing powers. silvershark44
thats the one thing that really makes me think dont speed excessively. At the end of the day i could deal with any fine they will realistically throw at me, and in reality i could handle a ban quite easily. But prison, omg you have to be fooking jokin! noway id want to be going there! really feel for the guy, i just hope his solicitor is ace. I know i would be investing heavily in the best one I couldnt afford if i was him! I think you have till about 140 mph before they start dishing out prison sentences. I havent heard of anyone getting prison for less than that.

merckx
Good point ,but when the adreline kicks in you don't really think about those issues. Very true! I've done it a few times and I feel terrible afterwards. The fear of being caught or getting involved in an accident!

Max Headroom
Well travelling at that speed you are doing 1 mile in aprox 20 secs, or 88 yards in 1 second. That is a recipe for disaster on a public road ! Best he invests in soap on a rope!!
