cashpoint
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Now that there are more Big single out there i was curious as to why people were going to singles rather than Big Twins or is it solely price as the twins all appear more expensive? Mad Ad
Probably more difficult to set up as well mate.
Ian C
Price and packaging - very difficult to fit big twins in. The cost is horrendous mainly as there is no advantage worth double the cost... -Ian
Syed Shah
This topic has been done to death across the internet. A clear conclusion uis never reached. Some claim twins spool faster due to lower inertia, but nobody can ever truely back it up in performance terms. In Supra terms, single is the way forward IMHO. It has been done, tested and proved. The only time I would consider twins would be when there are two separate cylinder banks.
MONKEYmark
they dont seem to work on supras from what i have seen. a single will free up loads of space to work on your car too. there is a thread on GTR board about single v twins http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthread.php?t=23552 they seem more with big twins than singles on GTR`s
Alex
The GTR's have access to small twin setup's hence they are popular with them. The Supra has no small twin options. So if you want modest power (~550-600hp) the single is the only option without incurring more lag than is necessary. Single's have better midrange and they are more efficient than twins. Twins are for ultimate power setup's when a big single simply cannot fit in the space.
Paul Laing
IMO cost is also a big thing, a single turbo conversion will cost less than say a set of HKS twins, also theres loads more single turbo kits than there is twins, so you can pick the kit for you. I was allways told they create lots of lag, but have seen many in magazines running over 900bhp. you can't beat a quick spooling big single, but Bpu will be enough for me, they beat most things apart from the exotic. Alex
Also, I believe the GTR's have a garret compatable manifold so swapping turbo's only is possible. Unlike the unique fittings for the Supra.

Paul Laing
True, but theres not many Exotic cars like Fararri's up Newcatle so Bpu is more than enough
