Chris and Alana
hi guys, Iv searched about but there is no clear answer to my question. I have a 93 twin turbo I am getting my Blitz Nur spec R fitted on thursday. However I also have both decat pipes and a 2" rr but so far Im only going to remove the first cat as I understand I will still reach 1bar+ with the second cat in. I would be tempted to go full decat but (and this is the bit I dont know the answer to) will my 93 soop pass an emissions test with no cats? as far as Iv read there has been alot of debate on this but I thought I would ask and see if anyone knows for sure. Ric
no it wont. It should pass with a good condition 2nd cat, but it will not pass with a full decat. Thus sell me the 2nd decat
Chris and Alana
Thus sell me the 2nd decat I liked that bit so the answer is no, I need at least 1 cat. Thanks very much. I also read while searching that its easy to acheive 1bar with the second cat left in. is that correct?
LuxobargeTT
UK spec, it won't pass. Jap spec, if the engine isn't listed in the MOT database, then it will have a pre-cat test carried out, which means you don't need to have any cat's in place. The Aristo isn't listed and only needs the pre-cat emissions test, thus how I know. And applies to all vehicles HTH (just ask the MOT tester if he has the jap spec 2jz-gte listed)
hogmaw
If you ask around you might be able to find a 'friendly' garage that will bend the rules and pass your car with NO cats
Ric
No my points where valid. The car "should" pass with just the 2nd cat in (as long as its in good nick), and yes my cars making just over 1bar boost with the first cat out. If you remove the 2nd aswell then it wont pass an emissions test
LuxobargeTT
Mine aswell, remember the jap spec doesn't have an EGR system, and hence will emit more emissions. Unless the MOT stations have the specific data, they have to perform a non-cat test.
Chris and Alana
Mmmmm. I may keep the second cat as 1.0bar sounds good enough for me. Iv already fitted a walbro and im going to get the spark plugs changed at the same time as the exhaust to NGK Iridium's (Grade 7) I also have a thor FCD to install. So once thats done I should theoretically be safley boosting 1bar+ and it should pass emissions, is that correct? Thanks for all the help guys:thumbs: One other thing. Can you increase the boost with an EBC to 1.2 bar with the second cat in place or will the EGT get far to high? Thanks again
