Should be less than 1000kg, most of which will be your engine and tub frame.
Joe.
its not being built for drag but drifting, have a full set of windows on the way for the car alongwith a strict diet plan for the car, the car cant be space framed or cant tub it out at the front or rear
Homer
1100kg is a no go then. Not even close.
colsoop
Have a look here: CLICK ME Go to the weight reduction tab for ideas of what you can strip and also check the lightest supra tab. 2921 pounds ! although it doesn't specify what was done to achieve that figure. There is plenty of weight to shift in the supra i think without mega money being spent you could get it down to 1200 KG Good luck
Chewie
It's such a heavy car to start off with. That's why 200SXs are top choice for drifting.
colsoop
It's such a heavy car to start off with. That's why 200SXs are top choice for drifting. how much does a 200sx weigh ?
Joe.
I think ill get it under the 1100kg mark no problem, We have got last years drift 180sx down to 1040kgs with all glass and metal doors,1/4's and boot door Have fiberglass doors, 1/4's and boot door comming along with lezan windows all round inc front screen, so close to 950kgs is the target. the car will be striped to bare shell and fitted with a custom cage and then the shell will be stripped of any unwanted metal it will have no air con,or heater box and stock fuel tank removed etc and a full comstom wiring loom to be used
bondango
If your throwing everyting at it, i guess it is possible. Carbon fibre where ever possible including Driveshaft, the new d1 soarer has a full CF dash, use lighter suspension components, even with the engine thres a few things - lightened Fly wheel, pulleys, ditch viscous, aircon, maybe altenator, ditch the TT setup and run a single GT3037 Pro-S(favoured by Kunny and T&E on the D1 2jz's). Dee Irelands supra was put on a strict diet but i dont know what the final weight was on it.

Would i be mad in saying I want to get mine under 1100kgs ? I'd say getting under 1100 kgs would be very costly and it would be race only, in reality. Chewie
The guys at the now defunct Temple Laughaurne Motorsport were built a Supra for drifting. I heard they gave up as it was not competitive enough incomparison with 200SX. £/lb you'll need a good base car to work on especially if money is tight. Ask yourself are you actually going to enter drift competitions or just pose around in a drift car on a Saturday night?
