dan4
Whats ppls opinions on tesco fuel??? I did use it for a while and since gone back to shell. I have seen quite a few bbreakdowns come in with very poor quality tesco fuel....normally contaminated with water to the point where when you remove the plugs they look like they have been subjected to years of salt water lol. Not so bad on your average family runabout but would do some serious damage on full chat to an unlucky person in their pride and joy
hogmaw
Are you talking about the low or high ron fuel?

Ewen
I used the Tesco high-end 99 stuff for a while, but went back to Shell Optimax and then V-Power a while back. No valid reason really, just rather have the extra additives and the assurance of an alledgedly superior fuel. Scare stories come and go, even Shell has had a few knockers, but overall I decided I didnt really want to save the odd pound or two and worry about the possible long-term effect of 'every little helps'. Not technical, just psychological.
dan4
tesco 99 isnt 99ron all the time its an average. The only proven consistent fuel was optimax at 98ron??

letmeshowyou
I try and stick to tesco 99 where I can (with a bit of millers in for the strip). I get really bad det with optimax (though I suspect thats more due to the garages round here ) and far worse milage!
tDR
I run Tesco 99 ron in mine as there's a store selling it on my doorstep for 2p / litre more than regular unleaded - no problems here and my BPU+ feels particularly perky with it Cheers, Brian. Not so bad on your average family runabout but would do some serious damage on full chat to an unlucky person in their pride and joy Surley you have evidence to back that up, that it was the Tesco fuel that did that to the car. Kerrie works for them in the petrol station and she is always telling me about how many checks on quality ect they have to do. They are very tight on not letting the tanks run low, so it doent bring up all the crap ect. And the fule is always having samples sent off to make sure its up to the standards it should be. I use it as well as all sorts of fuel from other places and ever had any issues.
martin_a
tesco 99 isnt 99ron all the time its an average. The only proven consistent fuel was optimax at 98ron?? That's the wrong way round. V-Power isn't stable so that's why there is no RON rating on the pumps. If it is fresh it could be 99 but older and it could be 97 as it actually goes off while in storage. Basically use the busiest garage you can Tesco 99 RON is 99 RON guaranteed and at 88p/litre in Falkirk i ain't complaining. m. EDIT more info on Tesco - they publish fuel quality on the web, no one else does so can't have much to hide! http://www.greenergy.com/products/99_octane.html
AndrewOW
I use Tesco 99 since I've had the car (April 06), and got my car dyno'ed on that too. I'm perfectly happy with it. Albeit thats the only place around Eastbourne, south East Sussex etc, that sells anything like that high 'RONage'. It all comes from the same supplier anyway, its just Shell etc use maybe a couple more additives to up their prices.
