Ian C Posted January 26, 2007 Share Posted January 26, 2007 At least the stock rail is a known good quality item and won't piss fuel all over the place like some of the so called 'upgraded' fuel rails. (Ask Tannhäuser and JamieP about that) All the quality in the world won't get past fitment issues. I don't think we should confuse the issue and immediately write off aftermarket fuel rails as sieves just because of one isolated incident. Cliff's was an O-ring issue from what I recall. Ian C Posted January 26, 2007 Share Posted January 26, 2007 Well let's ease down a bit on the doom and gloom to start with So it's a big turbo and big injectors but a stock rail with a stock FPR (running at ? psi pressure) and the pulsation dampener is still in place? And this techtom thing is a remapped ECU - thought impossible but I also recall hearing of this TechTom thing as well, it's a daughterboard in the ECU, soldered in place. As to how flexible it is I don't know. Just how sizeable is this turbo then...? If you can't richen the mix up then either your injectors are at 100% duty (!) or, if they aren't, the fuel pump is out of flow capacity. It's also possible that there is a restriction in the system somewhere that's causing a dropoff of fuel delivery... -Ian Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The other thing that caught my attention is that he only gained 25hp from a .2bar increase in boost on a large turbo, that doesnt sound right. Guest Usmann A Posted January 26, 2007 Share Posted January 26, 2007 TBH, only ever time ive had fuel leaks were due to improper installation alot of the times the o rings get pinched when pushing into the rail. ( vasaleine works ) I got a PHR rail, beeneees. just becuase BP was upped by .2bar, and the motor made 25hp, could be down to him not being at MBT or quite a few other factors. Like peeps say,check the commons culprits in your fuel system, before you look at the EMS. Can i ask, did anyone finetune the Techtom,or did u just clip n run with it? cleland Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share Posted January 26, 2007 The techtom software was spot on, its not piggy back its software that allows you to run the standard ecu, it cost a fortune to get it originally, so not many people are clued up with it. My original question was only advise on the fueling, as the spec on my engine is temporary and if i could run 1.4-1.6bar at a good a/f figure it would do till my new engine is built.
