Gee
I have just had a brand new RPS Cyn R G lightened flywheel and RPS Sport Street clutch fitted on mt TT 6 speed. I have searched and found that a rattly noise is common at idle but the noise Im experiencing is whilst driving. When I press the accelerator I get a loud mechanical rattle from the gearbox/clutch/flywheel area which then dissapears at certain revs. The Gearbox oil was replaced with Toyota V160 and all bearings were replaced also. The clutch and gearbox engage fine and smooth but Im concerned about the noise. What could this be? Is it just a case of the new components bedding in? Chris Wilson
Get used to it, that's how they are, and why Toyota paid LUK a fortune to design a dual mass flywheel to enable them to run an undamped (stronger and more reliable) clutch plate. It WILL cause more transmission wear, but shouldn't kill it.
TRD3000GT
Yep as Chris Wilson said. Get used to it.. Mine makes the same noise with the clutch upgrade and I just live with it now.. Makes the Getrag sound more agricultural that normal.
MrHanky
Yep as Chris Wilson said. Get used to it.. Mine makes the same noise with the clutch upgrade and I just live with it now.. Makes the Getrag sound more agricultural that normal. Exactly what I would describe it as. I had both of these parts fitted yesterday and noticed it straight away. Its only usually when you are trying to accelerate at low revs I find. Mark
Chris Wilson
It's harmonics going through the gear train making the gears and propshaft vibrate and chatter. The dual mass flywheel dampens these out.
