I used to work for a really nice family sized company that looked after its employees. It got gobbled up just over a year ago by a big American corperation and besides sacking a few people, stopping all our bonuses and generally turning a deadicated team or hard working employees into a bunch of totally unmotivated numbers in their big payroll system, they are also responsible for this...

Oh my god - it's like Band Aid but a million times worse.

When I joined my current company, it was already a large very successful company - but it seemed they really cared for their employees. These days, they really care about £££'s and share prices and I don't think morale is what it was - but that video has just made me feel soooooo much happier about where I work!

:( It stinks. My company's about to be sold off to whoever can stump up enough dosh to satisfy his greed  Been hovering over our heads since last summer. Hey ho, onwards an upwards. They're all tarred with the same brush. Said our bonus is protected (yeah, right!) ...stuff em, one holiday coming up:p

Hi mark, how ya doin? Hows Vicky? Hows the Scooby sport wagon? Luvin the supe hugely, not stopped grinning yet! lol :D

Who the heck are ADP?

that video is grim lol

I know how you feel. My last two jobs (I spent several years in each) started really well as small companies with a highly motivated workforce, got bought out by larger companies and went rapidly downhill. It was so bad the only solution was to move on.

I've just started my new job, at a small company... lol

but I can say, having worked for companies of 30-50 employees and companies with 100k employees, small companies can be a lot more fun :)

Assuming your company was privately owned, you can't blame ADP. They are a big, crap corp, of course, and deserve disdain for that alone.

But the fact you now work for them is because the owners of your company sold out - and despite being good employers to you previously, they obviously didn't take the employees into consideration when the big cheque arrived! I hope you all got a nice chunky bonus when the sale went through, at least.

So you're still at this place Mawbs?

At least someone at head office has a sense of humour if they allowed that to happen.

If they take away my ability to work from home then I might look else where. Unfortunately they use an inhouse programming language which isn't a transferable skill. I pick stuff up pretty quick though but it will still be a pain finding another job.

At least you've got time to look whilst still being employed. Grin and bare it for the moment.

Once you can program in one language, others come easily. When I'm looking at taking people on I'm more interested in their methodologies than the language they know.

Hope it turns out ok.

That sounds familiar. Think this sort of thing is common place nowadays. Mind you if someone wanted to buy out Andy Mills Ltd I'd sell it!
