RICHARDA
Hi Guys Can I run a Goodyear GS-D2 on one side of the front and a GS-D3 the other side, without disturbing the handling. I don't want to pay out for 2 tyres if only one if required. Both on standard 17" rims. Ta Rich
merckx
Not 100 % sure. I think the GS-D3 superseded the GS-D2 . I would send Goodyear's Technical Dept an Email. GoodYear I had a split on the inside of my GS-D3(possible manufacturing fault), they rang me the next day.
Bobbeh
I dont think you should mix tyre types.. the tread pattern did change between the 2 tyres so that would affect the levels of grip etc.
RICHARDA
Thank you, I have sent Goodyear an e-mail requesting some advice. I would have thought this is a common problem and most people don't want to spend out on 2 tyres when only one needs to be replaced. Rich

Digsy
Don't do it mate. I've just had my fron D2s replaced with new D3s and the tread patterns are drastically different. I know it's a pain, but I'd only replace tyres in pairs. What's the problem? Puncture?
RICHARDA
Darren Just low tread on one side. I thought it would make sense for Gdyr to make the D2 & D3 compatible? Rich

Rich I would have assumed that the D3 is an improvment over the D2? Probably makes more sense for them commercially to make them incompatible. If you want an answer based 100% on fact, then I don't know. It's a question for either someone who has done it, a tyre supplier, or Goodyear. I can guess what the answer from the latter two would be, but maybe you could get away with it. It's a crap situation. BTW how did the tread get low on only one side? SkyJawa
never mix tyres or versions, the d3 has different characteristics than the d2 - get 2, its not worth not spending the extra......
