Straight pipe... no back box.

In the quest for higher boost on my UK spec TT, i have had a word with powerflow. (sad i know)

Im going to get a straight 2 1/2" pipe from cat back ( i mean literally straight) with no back box.

will this sound oki? will it be less restrictive than most exhausts on the market? i.e blitz?

any info greatly appreciated

you could allways get one of them in car adjustable baffle jobbys in it from apexi look on http://www.takakaira.co.jp for full spec it should quieten things down while your cruising past plod whether it quietens it down enough i dont know but there not to expensive so it could be worth a go, i would say you would get away with 2 1/2 at the back where the gas is cooling and contracting but at the turbo end you would want 3" if your going for max power imho

oki the reason why i didnt go for 3"

My de-cat pipes are already 2 1/2" so will it make a difference going for a 3" Cat back??

Also very few places in the country bend 3" pipes, Predator being one, but appparently they charge a bomb!!

Just want to re-itterate what Alex mentioned.... you do know how loud it is going to be?

I tried putting a straight through pipe on my 2.9 Sierra last month and it was unbearable. I put a back-box back on it within two days !!

With the Supra being a much higher flow ehaust than my Sierra then I would expect the noise levels to be through the roof. Silencers take away soooo much noise, even the thin types. To have no silencer on at all would be something to hear. Hey if you get it done I may be able to hear you from where I live (and thats in Cumbria !!!) :p

If anyone has taken off all silencers on a Supra before I would sure like to know what they sound like.

Before I put the RSR back box on mine I thought I'd try see what its like without any silencers on so drove it for a few miles with only the CW pipes. It was unbelievably loud, and did not sound 'nice' at all. The noise is kinda farty sounding and the drone is unbearable, I really wouldn't recommend doing this.

You heard the RSR and on my car (which is pretty noisy), without the silencer it’s twice that volume and would leave your eardrums bleeding!

I used to run completely straight thru on my mkiii turbo, and it's too loud and you'll get permanant police presence, using the 'the turbo is my silencer' line just doesn't cut the mustard, although it did pass the M.O.T

I'd suggest straight thru from turbo, into a single stright thru rear box, this just takes the edge off it, and sounds great. It's a system we now sell for the mkiii turbo off the shelf called the Pro Street and is full 3" turbo back with a single rear box.

P.S you can't compare a Sierra as that's an N/A engine and will always sound different.

P.P.S Adams mkiii is on its way, hopefully, to 600bhp using a modified version of our Pro Street exhaust.

My motor will live as of Monday but it has a 4" straight through from the single turbo...

4" down pipe , 4" mid pipe, 4" HKS racing titanium all connected up to the back of a T67 turbo..

Im pretty worried about noise levels :woot:

Has anyone heard a setup like this ??

Mine does that now and I only have a 2 1/2" decats with a NUR. I have to open and close the front door really quickly when the turbo timers running, as all of my glasses in my cupboards start to shake and rattle..... :read:
