Snooze
just quick question, how do i use the surround sound for tv and my xbox lol Which model LG is it, Jurgen? To be able to get surround sound from TV or X-Box, you need something where you can connect in to the decoder/amplifier from an external sound source. Guest Garfy
same as mine, on the back of the tv there are some phono sockets, I think they are labbled Line out, or something along them lines, that will take the sound from the tv to the surround sound system, that will enable you to listen to the tv or xbox through it, does the surround sound system have a digital input? Snooze
Depends what connectors are on the DVD player, Jurgen. Basically, the components needed for any set up are: 1. Sound source (TV, DVD Player, XBox, etc.) Then, for surround sound sources: 2. Decoder. This splits the digital sound into multiple sound signals for different speakers Then: 3. Amplifier. This increases the power of each of the sound signals (normally for all except the subwoofer, which has it's own amplifier) 4. Speakers! For an ideal flexible set-up, you want to be able to plug anything anywhere into this sequence, but for practicality, many of the features are frequently built into a single unit. For example, amplifiers often have decoders built in, and DVD players sometimes have decoders built in. For example, at my place, I have my X-Box, DVD player and TV (amongst other things!) all connected up to my amplifier/decoder. The amp then connects to the speakers. I use the amp for handling all the sound (so the TV itself is always muted - the sound goes from the line output to the amplifier). Do you know where each of these jobs is done in your set-up?
