Dragonlady
Help. We just fitted a set of Rota Gtrs on the supra which we had delivered today, and on taking for a test drive have found that the rear tyres are hitting the arches when we go round corners. The looking at Rotas website it appears that the offset for the rears is 30 ET and we have 275 x 35 x 18 Faulken 452 tyres. We are hoping to get hold of the supplier tomorrow, but wondered if anyone here has had any experience of wheels with the same offset and tyre sizes? Homer
That is going to be quite close, what is the wheel width?

Shilakadaddy
Just replied to your PM, but have now spotted this. Mine were 18x9.5 ET30 at the rear, with 265/35/18 tyres. I had the same problem and needed to get the arch lips trimmed in order for it to be drivable at the ride height I have. I don't think there are any other offset options for the 9.5" wheel. Ric
Is there any guide on the forum regarding PROPPER fittings for the supra with various size tyres like 275 tyre with a 9.5 18" wheel requires X offset? front/rear?
Shilakadaddy
There's an excel sheet kicking around somewhere with that information (very handy)... think it might be on supraforums.com?
wkdtime
The smallest tyre width you can get away with on the rears with those offset/width combo is 255 with no rubbing. If you want to stick with the 275's then you will have to get the arches rolled. No two ways about it.
Dragonlady
Surely with a 255 on a 9.5 wheel you would be, 1. stretching the tyre to fit. 2. compromising the grip and handling?

Just had a look at Rotas website and it seems strange that they are saying that these are ok for the supra even though the offset is 30. You would think if suppliers recommended the wheels for a car it would without the comprise of rolling arches or fitting undersized tyres. I believe the stock size for the supra rear is 255, mind you this is on a 17" wheel. I could be wrong though...

It is the stock size, 9.5 inch width wheel and 255 tyre's are perfect size for the supra.
Dragonlady
It is the stock size, 9.5 inch width wheel and 255 tyre's are perfect size for the supra. But from what I have heard the 255 tyres affect grip on a TT, and it's difficult to get traction. Is this not the case, especialy if running BPU? Correct suspension choice, geometry and correct wheel size and offset will have a far greater effect on grip than the tiny extra traction area a wider tyre will give. Dragonlady
Are you on stock suspension dragonlady? No it's an aftermarket one with 3 adjustment positions - don't know which one though as I believe it came from Japan installed

If we were to get some other tyres for the rear would you suggest 255 x 35, or 255 x 40?
