Hi, I recently got new front brake pads..After about 300 miles driving they sqeek sooo much when i brake lightly to medium!!, its so embarrasing.

What can I do, when I first start the car and drive around for 5-10 mins the brakes dont make any noise, but once they heat up a bit the noise is soooo Loud!!. Braking is fine it doesnt pull to 1 side..

Please Help

Did you fit the anti-squeal shims with the brake pads? :)

:yeahthat: i almost threw mine away after i fitted my pads, they look like they are part of the old brakes but you can just remove them and use them again :)

im not sure, I just took the car to the garage and had the brakes changed, I gvae them the brakes though...What are anti squel shims?

they're just a thin plate that fit between the pads and the piston in the caliper

sounds like they chucked em :(

I'd get it checked. It's really easy to do yourself (only 2 bolts to remove the caliper) or get the garage to do it. If you find the shims are still fitted then lots of copper grease on the back of the brake pad is supposed to cure it.. You do need to put quite a bit on though.. :)

You also get a wear ridge appearing, ie the pad doesn't always cover the whole of the disc so there is an area on the disc that doesn't wear down.

Sometimes new pads are larger than the old ones and rub up against this unworn area on the disc resulting in a squeal. :)
