Dr_Doom
Did you fit the anti-squeal shims with the brake pads?
Guest gzaerojon
Did you fit the anti-squeal shims with the brake pads? i almost threw mine away after i fitted my pads, they look like they are part of the old brakes but you can just remove them and use them again

Gamer
Could possibly be the pads glazing ? Give the car a few hard stops and see if it improves after that.
Dr_Doom
I'd get it checked. It's really easy to do yourself (only 2 bolts to remove the caliper) or get the garage to do it. If you find the shims are still fitted then lots of copper grease on the back of the brake pad is supposed to cure it.. You do need to put quite a bit on though.. Dr_Doom
I'd also give the pad surface a good rubbing down with some grit paper
boombastictiger
Cool, ill give that a try, the anti sqeal pads wouldnt by any chance happen to be a shiny piece of metal would it, i remember there was a thin metal stripe on the back of the pad? I have 1 of the old pads spare, ill see if there is anything on there ...
merckx
You also get a wear ridge appearing, ie the pad doesn't always cover the whole of the disc so there is an area on the disc that doesn't wear down. Sometimes new pads are larger than the old ones and rub up against this unworn area on the disc resulting in a squeal.
Chewie
Try smearing Coppaslip high melting point grease on the back of the pad steel mounting plate not much as it can spread on to the friction material and disc.

boombastictiger
yes......... also what pads are they stock? if not what brand? They are allied Nippon pads, basically meant to be exactly the same as OEM pads, as this company makes them for Toyota apparently... I got them cheap £

CJ
I would not expect much from pads that cost 15 squid. I agree. Of all the things to definitely not skimp on I would put brakes at the top of the list.
boombastictiger
The pads are meant to be exactly the same pads as you get with OEM, a trader on here was selling them a few weeks ago. I got them for £15, because I was lucky I guess, they normally cost more...

Gamer
Fair enough, as long as you are happy with them. Did they come with ear plugs ? Just joking bud, you probably just need the shims.
