Guest Alexander Stage
hi guys - does anyone know whether I would need a new head gasket following the radiator steaming up, water explosion in my passenger footwell which could have been caused by a rusting or corroding heater system. Anyone had a similar problem?
merckx
water explosion in my passenger footwell Hello Heater matrix required,it's expensive due to time required to fit . If mine ever needs replacing I'm doing it myself. I hope you didn't run it for long after this occurence, overheating may have occured if you did. This can damage the engine. Scooter
best thing to do is temporarily bypass the heater matrix. Loads of info about this on here - its a simple'ish job Fill the car with water, run and check for overheating........fix leak if one is still apparent.......sniffer test will confirm headgasket has gone....... If the car runs ok and maintains a steady water temp after the bypassing of the matrix it may have just overheated due to the depresurising of the system, (i think )
