My grandfather had his house builr to spec nearly 10 years ago, it has marble floors, 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and servants quarters. Its situated just outside Mumbai on a street which also houses government officials etc so not a slum by any means, as far as i remember the house including the land was arounf the £100k figure, not sure how much the prices have risen in the last 10 years though?

In Karachi (Pakistan) - house prices have risen 400% - 500% on average in the space of 7-10 years.

Right, so 200 quid now for a place with a swimming pool:d (joke)

Imi, look at the way CJ has reacted to 'fuck off home Taffy'. He's having a laugh about it, not having a nervous breakdown and not trying to sue every f*cker around him. He would have as much right to cry racism as any asian yet he has what we call a sense of humour and a grip on reality:)

You haven't jumped up and down after seeing this comment yet somone saying 'f*ck off home' on a shit TV programme and you all go into Blue Peter mode and make cardboard effigies (sp) and set alight to them:D

Is that not a little racist in itself, I mean all you seem to argue for is people from similar backgrounds as yourself rather than racism as a whole?

I would say CJ knew that it is joke, when in BB this Jade thing was absolutely serious about what she is talking about...

All trio is thick, stupid and partially ugly - so why defend them? Let them get what they deserve. Mind you - I'm coming from country known from bad way of threating different skin colour people and I think even there bullies would be at least slapped for doing public show like this (actually Jade would be hanged for ugliness and stupidity).

But i give you a credit for accepting people like Jade in this country and even paying for FITNESS video of her LOL!

Racist ???? no

Big mouth and ignorant yes,

If the argument had been with a swede , french, german whatever it would have not been blown out of proportion,

This is just the usual typical media us and them crap that contuines to rage,

Yes there was "some form" of bullying but no different to Barrymore and Jodie Marsh last year

basically Jade has a big mouth and the row did make embarrasing car crash TV.

Basically i think she didn't like the fact someone who is used to being treated like royality expected to be treated the same in a UK reality show, She just did it in a very silly and very public way

Racist ? no... well it sold loads of papers and now her career is in ruins possibly her families safety could be at risk and for what ???

reality TV

Makes you think... but someone has now made a shed load of cash

Exactly ! the minute skin colour is involved then people are guilty of racism regardless of the comment or context in which it was said.

Now you are assuming I had a problem with that comment being racist.....tut tut

Funny that you keep arguing when the thick bint herself has admitted that the comments were inappropriate and racist....

This thread has certainly thrown up some issues, as it has in wider society. It has been said that it may even help reduce the amount of racism, though debate. Sadly that is most unlikely as most racists actually believe they are right and do not see the actions or words of others or themselves as racist. It is all about perception.

Yeah but my question is why people like yourself over react to comments like it when many other people from other countries and cultures don't have the same reaction.

Is it some sort of insecurity that gives us such a reaction or is there something along the lines of exploiting it by being considered a victim all the time?

If you could answer the above then it would help for me to understand where you are coming from.

I am less interested in why "people like over react to comments" and more interested in why you think questions like the above are acceptable. What exactly are "people like" him? Am I like him? Even though I'm white? Even though I'm English?

Classic example, 'like him' doesn't refer to colour/creed, you've read that into it. I'm simply asking why people like him, as in, he has had a history of starting threads like this in the past to provoke a reaction so I now have an opinion myself as to the type of person he 'might' be.

Is that OK or shall we add a little 'that's racist' comment in to spice it up?:D ;)

I'm afraid you don't convince me. You said "like yourself" and then said that "other people from other countries and cultures don't have the same reaction". That comment - together with your previous post - about the fact that the moment skin colour is involved, people cry racism - does make it look very much like people "like him" are people who are not white.

From your previous posts, I know you will consider this over-reacting. Such is life - I am happy with my view on it.

OK, fine. One thing I've learnt is how people will analyse every word spoken or typed and twist it to suit their interpretation.

As long as it's like this and such a grey area with (imo) over reactions in some cases then harmony in this country will never exist.

There is no consistency be you black, white, asian, oriental etc. and until this happens I'm afraid I find it hard to get my head round.

It's been an interesting discussion but just seems to go full circle every time so I'm backing out of it now.

Cheers, Paul

Strangely, for the first time in this thread I (mostly) agree with you. The exception, is the phrase "twist it" - because I think the whole point is that interpretation is not a black and white / 2+2 = 4 kind of thing. People will always interpret things in different ways which is why some people view the behaviour in the BB house as racist and some don't. Even then, I suspect the division is greater than that - I've said before that I don't think the underlying cause of the conflict was racism - and I think there were only a few racist comments (and most of them were from Danielle). I'm sure some people think it was all racist / some people think none of it was, and there are probably a million degrees of opinion in between.

Sadly, this is probably true in most things in life, so it's not just this that will stop peace and harmony in the UK. But at least we will still have stuff to talk about.

I agree - a full circle, and nobody will change their mind. So I will also bid good night to this thread.
