Oh and a tree,

(don't normally turn right out of the driveway so it's ok)

And Ironically, there's a petition started this week down our road not to cut the trees down.

Power cut, which was ok as the genny kicked in and all the servers and PCs carried on working. When it was restored it tripped out a rack and a UPS got upset meaning 15 server or so went offline as a network switch on that UPS went off. :(

At home my burgler alarm box blew off and was smacking into the window from teh live wires it was dangling from. Had to go home at lunch time and cut it down.

There's debris all over town as I drove back. Random shoes(!), paper, bins, keep left signs off islands etc.

Could be worse, I see the MD of Bimingham Int. Airport was killed by a branch through his windscreen.

Probably saw it as an opportunity to do what they wanted - "oh it was the wind, unsafe! Unsafe!" and all that corporate jazz.

Yep totally, they've stopped for now.

tbh the tree that did fall due to the wind was lucky that it didnt cause any damage as our road leads to a school and the kids were leaving as well as a load of cars coming up the road!

Prior to that the council wanted to remove them for no real reason.

I have to agree with Doug. The wind up here has been nothing like that breezy day in '87.

I told the worrying Northerners at work all about it and shut them all up. All except one who said she didn't believe me. I eventually got her to admit why. She didn't believe that I'd "just happened to be down south when the hurricane struck". A few more comments and it transpires that despite my accent and everyone calling me a 'poncy southerner' she didn't realise I was, in fact, a southerner.

Classic.

I've been lucky. My neighbour has a single storey extension at the back of his house with a flat roof and my driveway runs beside it. The last few nights the Supra has been parked next to it.

I got home from work today to find a 12ft plastic drainpipe - and an 8" square block of concrete - where I was about to park the car.

I decided to park at the top of the driveway tonight....
