grahamc
Well its time for the my first holiday of the new year... Since my fiancee is on a visa that is close to its end date, overseas travel is difficult... So we are looking at travel with GB. So since I was born there, may as well go visit Wales. Wheres good to go? What are some of the sights to see? Want to see some castles... and then spend some time by the coast... Ideas? EDIT: NO SHEEP JOKES! grahamc
Oh yes, and hiking up a mountain would be a good thing as well.

michael
Portmeirion http://www.portmeirion-village.com/ Even if you only stay there for one night it's a cracking experience.
outatime
I'd agree with the Gower and Portmerion Village, a bit further north the area around St Davids is a bit less touristy than the Gower with some good cliff walks. Tenby is ok, Solva is a pretty little village near St Davids. The Lleyn Peninsula in the North is nice if you like walking, there are plenty of castles around there (Caernarfon and Beaumaris in Anglesey spring to mind). Abersoch is a good place to stay around there, out of season. Llandudno is an old fashioned resort with a prom, pier etc that also makes a good base up there. Snowdonia is worth a visit, Cadair Idris is a good walk if you are fit and Aberdovey is a nice place to stay. Bit quiet at the moment though! I'd be wary of the weather this time of year though, it has been raining a lot here recently If you need any hotel/restaurant recommendations, let me know. outatime
sounds really good... thanks Yeah, its nice here. I wouldn't visit at this time of year if you are averse to walking in the rain and wind though! If you are an 'outdoors' type then you will have a good time. Personally, i'd do a tour and stop off a few places to see a bit more of it if you have never been before. Depends how much driving you want to do. outatime
Dont mind driving, and maybe, just maybe my supra will be ready... If we have a bit of dry weather, the roads up here are excellent. Especially in the winter when there is no one around Evo magazine do a lot of their testing a bit further north of me.
